The 2nd Amendment was an afterthought (thus it being an "Amendment"). The Constitution (that needed amending) was our 2nd Try [1st try was The Articles of Confederation] to get what we all demand of/by/for/and from each other under THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE (which cannot be repealed or amended). The Declaration states 2x in the flesh language of its 2nd Paragraph (and further implies it an additional time in its opening paragraph) that you should chuck your government [any gov't] "whenever" you deem necessary. One of those times it states that it is your "duty" to.
There is no logical or legal argument that can be made to claim they wrote that, yet still intended a bona fide U.S. Citizen to have to ask, their government they deemed needed replacing, for the means, OR THE PERSMISSION TO OBTAIN THE MEANS, to do so.
No goddammned way.
Therefore, the 2nd Amendment (which cannot stand on its own as its own protection, as the Constitution can be amended or repealed under its own Article 5) demands PARITY of "arms" (not just 'guns') with our government, and it's not our fault what that parity might entail.

It must be recognized that the Constitution does not give us our rights. Neither does the government. Prior to the Constitution, which predates the government, we already had those rights. The Constitution was created to create a government, not a society, therefore, it does not give rights to society. It defines what the government is and what it is to do. Anything not in the Constitution is none of the government's affair. The Bill of Rights merely takes that premise another step further by spelling out certain rights and reminds the government there is No Trespassing. The fact is, regardless of country, regardless of Constitution, we all have these rights. A government telling you you don't have those rights because it says so is a tyranny and it is your right, your duty, to abolish that government and replace it!
