Anyone who thinks Barack Obama never saw a dollar he didn't want to spend . . . OK, that's probably true, but there are some reasons for spending a dollar for which he doesn't have much use. And as we all know, the military is at the top of that list. Every dollar spent on the Armed Forces is a dollar Obama can't spend regulating industry, having the IRS harass his political opponents or illegally subsidizing health care premiums.

Hillary Clinton could save us all a lot of time by simply issuing the following statement:
I don't even know what to say in the course of presenting news like this. I suppose we just wait to learn what - if anything - might have been the motivation of the 21-year-old mass murderer. We don't know if he knew anyone there or had any sort of connection to the church or the pastor. We don't even know who he is, at least not for sure, as he remains at large. We just know he walked in and opened fire, and now nine people are dead, including the pastor, who was also a South Carolina state senator.
This is one of those things where - maybe because I've never been in the military - I don't see the big deal. I guess the reason you're not supposed to have facial hair or where things like turbans is that they're trying to eliminate the distinctions between soldiers, so you identify as a member of the Army and not as you as an individual.
Since the only real policy fights concerning abortion anymore are the ones fought in courtrooms - and nothing is ever really decided until the Supreme Court makes a decision in some manner - the past week's outcomes of two major state cases give us a sense of what passes muster and what doesn't as states who are so inclined seek to put restrictions on the procedure.

It seems like we get these number two guys a lot, but in fairness, we did get that number one guy some time back. Even so, the more dead Al Qaeda the better. So 
I suppose I want this for the same reason I wanted Twin Peaks brought back from the dead (and got it). I'm not one to live in the past, but it's also not my style to accept the unjust demise of something that deserved a better fate. Agent Cooper deserved better than to be stuck forever in the Black Lodge while BOB possessed his soul and made him smash his forehead into that mirror while cackling, "How's Annie?"
So they still haven't caught those two escaped prisoners, and that's all the more curious given what we've learned about the apparent escape plot. According to the charges against 51-year-old prison seamstress Joyce Mitchell, she not only helped them plan the escape but was supposed to show up when they emerged in the daylight and serve as the getaway driver. The fact that she never showed up for that job meant that they were left - at least at the outset - without a means for getting as far from the scene as possible, which you'd think would be one of three key fundamentals for pulling off the escape successfully (the other two being 1) split up; and 2) change your appearance).
I'm having a hard time getting too outraged by the fact that Rachel Dolezal, an NAACP executive director in Washington State, turns out to be a white woman pretending to be black. I'm having a hard time mustering up any enthusiasm for mocking her either.
Stuff like this never gets old, and it never stops being relevant because, remember, the global warmists tell us we must act now or else their dire predictions about the future will inevitably come true. So what do we find when we look back on some of their past predictions? The Media Research Center did just that the other day, dredging up a hilarious (although not intentionally) report by ABC titled "Earth 2015."
Just in case Carly Fiorina is not the Republican nominee next year - and I'm starting to wonder if it's a good idea not to nominate her - whoever does carry the flag needs to watch the following 3-minute ad at least 100 times. Not because there's anything in here that you don't already know if you've been paying attention, but because this is how you tell people about it: (Video below)
Detroit Police Chief James Craig has made a major point of saying that Detroit residents not only have the right to arm themselves, but that it helps to prevent crime when they do. And the numbers WDIV reports in this story bears him out. But that's not at all the best part of the story - not even close.
States can only go so far in restricting abortion so long as Roe v. Wade remains "the law of the land" as liberals like to say about it and other laws they agree with.
Last September 11, residents of Louisiana experienced a brief and minor panic when a news story started going around that a major explosion had occurred in the city of Centerville, at the site of a facility run by Columbian Chemicals. It was quite the story. Links on social media included stories that appeared to have been reported by CNN, and there was even a YouTube video of ISIS claiming responsibility.
I post this mostly for my own amusement, although I have to say that if I didn't know Evan Thomas's history, I'd be mildly impressed by his assessment of Hillary. Only mildly, though, because he doesn't really recognize anything that isn't pretty obvious to anyone paying attention.
