With the entry of creepy “Uncle” Joe Biden into the race for the White House, the total number of Democratic Party presidential candidates has reached 20, making it the largest field in history. Unfortunately, a massive number of candidates does not translate into great ideas on how to move the country forward. Most of the major proposals being offered by these presidential candidates are truly frightening and would propel the United States of America on the road toward socialism, which leads to economic ruin and societal devastation.

It has been quite a while since Americans have witnessed an honorable and effective Attorney General serving in that important position. The two Attorneys General during the Obama administration were hopelessly partisan and extremely protective of the President.
Eric Holder famously claimed that he was “the President’s wing-man” who was “there with my boy.” Obviously, he worked non-stop to protect the President from any legal trouble and congressional investigations.
The worst fears of privacy advocates were confirmed this week after a Bloomberg report noted that Amazon employs thousands of specialists to decipher private conversations picked up on different types of Echo speakers. Of course, these devices use an automated assistant named “Alexa” to respond to requests for information, to play music, to turn off the lights and perform countless other tasks. All of this interaction with an Artificial Intelligence (AI) device is supposed to make life easier, not allow for a sophisticated spying operation.
It should surprise no one that in the radicalized Democratic Party of 2019 disgraced Reverend Al Sharpton is a major power-broker. His influence has been on display this week as many of the major Democratic Party presidential candidates attended a convention sponsored by the National Action Network, a “civil rights” organization founded by Sharpton.
The new phenomenon of the political world is U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), otherwise known as "AOC." This upstart congresswoman was bartending last year. Now, the entire political world knows her by her initials.
A political action committee, Justice Democrats, recruited her to run for Congress. She was selected from a large group of candidates who submitted their credentials to the committee.
It looks like another heavyweight Democratic presidential contender is on the verge of entering the race. Former Vice President Joe Biden is moving closer to making an official announcement that he will be a candidate in 2020.
If he runs, Biden will start at the top of the polls. The latest Emerson national poll has Biden and U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont tied at 26%, leading the large field of candidates.
The Democrats now have their rock star in the ever-growing presidential race. On Thursday, Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke officially launched his bid for the presidency. Beto is hoping to capitalize on the excitement that surrounded his losing U.S. Senate race last year in Texas. Despite a massive haul of $80 million, O’Rourke was defeated by incumbent U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX).
It should come as no surprise that the Democratic Party will not allow Fox News to host a presidential candidate debate for the upcoming 2020 election. According to Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez, “Recent reporting at The New Yorker on the inappropriate relationship between President Trump, his administration and FOX News has led me to conclude that the network is not in a position to host a fair and neutral debate for our candidates. Therefore, FOX News will not serve as a media partner for the 2020 Democratic primary debates.”
This week, President Trump was is in Hanoi, Vietnam negotiating with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un. This was their second summit, which marked tremendous progress from previous administrations. Ultimately, the goal of these talks will be to remove nuclear weapons from the Korean peninsula. Unfortunately, the North Koreans were not willing to commit to making serious strides toward the goal of denuclearization, so the President refused to ease any of our economic sanctions that have been placed on the country. The end result was no signing agreement, but the expectation is that talks will continue.
In mid-February, our national debt reached $22 trillion, a new record for our country. Since President Trump took office in January of 2017, our debt has increased over $2 trillion. During the administration of President Obama, it increased from $10.6 trillion to $19.9 trillion. Thus, the national debt has more than doubled in 10 years and it is still increasing nearly $1 trillion per year.
With the confirmation of William Barr as the new U.S. Attorney General, there is hope that the Department of Justice (DOJ) can regain some of its reputation that has been lost in the last few years.
Once viewed as a fair and respected law enforcement agency, the DOJ is now seen as a hotbed of anti-Trump Democratic Party activism. In the 2016 election, The Hill reported that an astounding 97% of DOJ employee contributions were given to Hillary Clinton, while Donald Trump received only 3%.
Another day, another Democrat presidential candidate entered the crowded race. U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) announced her candidacy in her home state of Massachusetts. She becomes the fifth woman to enter the presidential race, joining author and self-help expert Marianne Williamson, U.S. Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA), U.S. Senator Kirsten Gilibrand (D-NY), and U.S. Representative Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI). As of today, these women have competition from U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) and former Housing Secretary Julian Castro, the only men in the field.
For decades, conservatives have not been welcomed in the Democratic Party. Today, neither moderates nor mainstream liberals have a home in the party. It has been captured by an extreme band of far-left activists who espouse very progressive as well as dangerous socialist policies. This sprint to the left has intensified in recent months on a range of issues of critical importance to the American people.
To many of the radical leftists who inhabit the interconnected worlds of the media, Hollywood and the Democratic Party, the red hat with the words “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) has become the new similar of racism. According to left wing activist and actress Alyssa Milano, wearing the MAGA hat is akin to wearing a “white hood.”
In his address to the nation, President Trump once again offered an olive branch to the Democrats. In exchange for $5.7 billion in funding for a border wall, he gave his support for a three-year extension of protection for the 700,000 immigrants who arrived in the country as children. This group was protected from deportation by former President Obama in his Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
Now that the mid-terms are over, and the new Congress has started, political observers have already started to focus on the 2020 presidential campaign. Every election cycle it begins earlier, especially in this case, because the Democrats and their supporters in the media are obsessed with defeating President Donald Trump.
The 116th Congress will be one for the record books, but not in a positive way. Sadly, the United States House of Representatives is now controlled by the Democratic Party for the first time in eight years.
Every year on the Ringside Politics program, we award our “Turkey” of the year during Thanksgiving and our “Champion” of the year in late December. This year, the “winner” of our turkey award was House Speaker Paul Ryan, a fitting choice for such a failed leader.
In November of 2016, the American people elected Donald Trump to be our nation’s 45th President. He campaigned on a platform of bringing our troops back home from Syria and Afghanistan and focusing on an “America First” foreign policy. By announcing he was removing our 2,000 troops from Syria, the President is following through on another campaign promise.
