The Day We Bled for Liberty

Today Marks the anniversary of the birth of Liberty in America It all started with the Seven Years War, one of the many conflicts between Britain and France. It actually started on May 28, 1754 when an inexperienced militia officer and Virginia planter named George Washington fired on a delegation of Frenchmen, starting what came to be known as the French-and-Indian War. (Washington was so incompetent that the Iriqois Chief Half-King decided to switch sides and support the French.) At the heart of this conflict was the desire for land; the British had settled North America for the purposes of farming and mining, and they settled more densely than the French, who were more interested in pelts and fur. The ever-growing British population were confined to territories east of the Appalachians, and they eyed the virgin lands of Kentucky and Ohio with covetousness. The French, for their part, were not about to cede their inland empire to a bunch of British colonials, and they were prepared to fight.

Experts Agree Gun Control Works!

image The defense of the right to keep and bear arms is a defense of the core of the American Soul. The San Francisco Bleat, Nancy “stretch” Pelosi is calling for gun registration. In an interview with Good Morning America (Good Grief, America; you actually watch that?) everyone`s favorite Bolshevik grandmother called for the registration of American firearms. According to the Washington Times: “The speaker picked a television show with a viewership of 4.6 million to float the Democrats’ coming gun-control push. Questioned on ABC’s “Good Morning America” about the prospect of new gun-control laws now that “it’s a Democratic president, a Democratic House,” she responded, “We don’t want to take their guns away. We want them registered.”

Liberalism: the Taste of Things to Come

“[S]omething very ugly has surfaced in contemporary American liberalism, as evidenced by the irrational and sometimes infantile abuse directed toward anyone who strays from a strict party line. Liberalism, like second-wave feminism, seems to have become a new religion for those who profess contempt for religion. It has been reduced to an elitist set of rhetorical formulas, which posit the working class as passive, mindless victims in desperate need of salvation by the state. Individual rights and free expression, which used to be liberal values, are being gradually subsumed to worship of government power.

A Specter in Thy Republican Brother`s Eye

Newsmax is reporting that Texas Senator John Cornyn is giving his support to rampaging RINO and faithless fool from Philadelphia Arlen Specter (I just couldn`t pass up that phrase, though Specter is originally from Kansas and now lives primarily in Washington) for the 2010 elections.

The Russian Bear is Hungry

Russia is making news these days, and I have a handful of stories that aren`t exactly making the front page, but which are setting the stage for future events. We would be wise to pay attention. First off, Reuters is reporting a test-firing of a Russian Topol Intercontinental Ballistic Missile. Now, the Topol is a three stage, solid fuel, mobile ICBM capable of penetrating missile defense systems by eluding tracking systems. This test-and the one conducted last year-are pretty clearly rumblings from the bear designed to frighten President Barack O`Chicken into abandoning missile defense.

Sometimes swallowing a spider to catch a fly isn`t all that good of an idea.

Recently, Barack Obama`s chief science advisor John Holdren suggested America should look into ways to geo-engineer the planet; in essence, Holdren believes that Anthropogenic Global Warming is so dire that we need to invent some drastic measure to essentially terra form the planet to keep temperatures down

The Jealous God

One of the most hotly debated subjects in the last hundred years is the origin of life. Throughout human history Man has believed that some sort of Creator with powers far beyond those of mortal men intervened in affairs, and the existence of life-and the improbability of living organisms spontaneously generating from unliving material-has been the evidence to convince philosophers, historians, scientists, of the existence of God, or at least of some sort of Divine presence. There is clearly a demarcation between the living and the non-living, something that humans haven`t been able to explain. What is the great mystery of life? Why are we here?

Abridging Freedom of Education

We often speak of a slippery slope when referring to a thing that begins small and snowballs into something very bad; an idea that may have been neutral or even seemed good at the time starts society down a path leading us to a place where we had never intended on going.
