The last shuttle flight took off majestically with a plume of fire, disappearing into the clouds within forty seconds into its last man-made exploration, perhaps a fitting metaphor for its meteoric rise and fall. The crew consisted of three men and a woman, a precautionary move in case technical difficulties stranded them in space. It would cost the United States $63 million for each astronaut that the Russian Soyuz would return to earth. We have become mere passengers, taking a back seat to Russia’s leading role and military ambitions in cosmos.

Citizen U.S.A. The Reality

My American citizenship was an arduous journey, years in the making. It took mountains of paperwork on both sides of the Atlantic. Papers had to be translated from and into English, notarized, fiscally stamped, taxed, and approved. Appointments had to be made with various officials and officers of the law. Security Police interrogations and screenings were performed. Were you ever a Communist, how much debt did you have, did you have a savings account, did you have a job, who was going to support you, who was going to pay my medical bills, did I speak English, did I pass the American Government test, was I literate, and who was the president. And the questions never stopped until the American government was sure that I would not be a burden on the American taxpayers and would be a contributing citizen to this wonderful republic.

On June 9, 2011, few people paid attention to the Executive Order establishing the White House Rural Council. It was several days before people started inquiring, prompted by a few articles on Agenda 21, including mine. European Demographic Suicide

A recent interview with Neagu Djuvara, brought to the forefront the sad issue of cultural suicide by Europeans in the last thirty years. Statistical demographics prove that most western nations are not replacing their population at a rate higher than death rates and are thus galloping in the direction of self-extinction. The birth rate in various countries has dropped dramatically for Europeans while the birth rates of groups such as gypsies and immigrants from Africa and the Middle East are sky rocketing.

Obama’s Inflation

I enjoy shopping at my neighborhood grocery store. The shelves are always well stocked, there is a wide variety of food to satisfy even the most finicky palates, and prices are reasonable. Unfortunately, prices have steadily risen with each trip in response to the current administration’s expanding fiscal and monetary policies. My well-grounded fear is that shelves will be empty in the near future.

Obama’s Energy Policy

The President exhibited incredible callousness and total disconnect from the plight of the American people whom he has sworn to serve and protect. He recently advised a young man who was lamenting the high price of gasoline, to trade in his gas-guzzler SUV for a better mileage car made by GM or Ford. What if the man had a large family and needed an SUV or a van to transport them? What if he could not afford to buy a new car?

Are we in Rome?

My husband and I were visiting the Coliseum in Rome three years ago. Our talkative and self-deprecating Roman tour guide, a rare find among boisterous Italians, commented, while pointing to the Coliseum, that he did not know what happened to Rome, they used to be such great architects, engineers, and builders. He added that they devolved into Italians who take months to complete a simple job. When projects are finished, they are full of errors, and every team member blames somebody else. We laughed in agreement, having spent time in northern Italy and having dealt with the ridiculous bureaucracy. We had spent once all day driving from one office to another just to pay a landline phone bill.

National Debt is a Threat to National Security

National debt is the biggest threat to our national security. Most people’s eyes glaze over when discussion turns to business and economics. Americans know we have a huge debt with lots of zeroes but have no idea how it grew so exponentially large, where it came from, who owes it, who owns it, or how many zeroes a trillion has.
