Far from 'party of no,' House GOP offers lots of proposals media never tells you about

If you depend on the mainstream media for your news, you could be excused for thinking that no one in politics does anything but campaign and spew partisan rhetoric. That's pretty much all the media tell you, maybe because it's all they understand. You know about the latest campaign ad everyone in the political class is yapping about. You might have heard which interest group gave money to which candidate.

Black Chicago pastor endorses Republican, gets death threats

It shouldn't be a big deal that a pastor - seeing the poor living conditions, unsatisfactory schools and and high unemployment afflicting his members - should publicly support new leadership for his state. That Pastor Corey Brooks of New Beginnings Church in Chicago supports Republican Bruce Rauner for governor of Illinois seems about as natural as a thing can be.

Why the Obama Administration can't handle Ebola (or anything else)

We do not have an Ebola epidemic, and there is no reason for anyone to panic. But we do have a serious problem that has the potential to get much worse, and if it’s the federal government we’re going to trust to “manage the crisis” so to speak, then we absolutely need to demand competent leadership from the executive branch.

Sheila Jackson Lee: You know whose fault Ebola is? Republicans

On the one hand I think it's outrageous and despicable. On the other hand, I shrug, because I know: This is what they do. To a Democrat, everything is political, and every problem that ever occurred would surely have been prevented by the wonderfulness of government if only Republicans had given them more money.

Let's separate fact from fiction concerning Ebola

We've heard a lot of unfounded talk about Ebola in recent days. I don't sense a widespread panic out there, and I'm certainly not panicking myself, but if people don't know the real facts, they might not have the most responsible reactions to what's going on.

How to explain terrorism to a 12-year-old

While I was taking a few days off from my radio show earlier this week, a friend shared with me that his 12-year-old had been asked by one of his teachers to write a paper on ISIS. He wanted to know what I thought about that assignment.

Bill's right about business taxes, but trust Hillary to fix it? I do not think so.

I told you on the radio last week about Bill Clinton’s sudden see-the-light experience with respect to inversions and corporate taxes, an event Rob shared in detail that same day. Essentially, while other Democrats are carping about corporations who look to avoid U.S. taxes by establishing overseas headquarters, Clinton has publicly acknowledged that the problem is the U.S. tax code.

Democrats take all their voters for granted, not just blacks

Republican voters get frustrated with Republicans in Congress because it seems as if they are not aggressive enough on key issues. They have backed off of putting a repeal-and-replace ObamaCare alternative on the table. They now say they will repeal parts of it and try to fix it. It's not fixable! But repair is all they believe they can get if they gain control of both chambers of Congress by winning the Senate and maintain control of the House in November. That may be the case politically, but Republican voters would like for them to at least try to repeal and replace it. Republicans in the House control federal spending authorizations, but when they try to use that power, the Democrats leverage the bias in the mainstream media to put Republicans on the defensive over everything from children to the elderly to animals to the environment and, of course, "government shutdowns".

Fear of shutdown politics prompts House to surrender to Harry Reid yet again

If you were scared to death about the possibility that the government might shut down at some point before the end of the year, I guess you can start celebrating. The House has passed the latest in a series of continuing resolutions that are not really budgets, but authorize the spending of money necessary to fund the operation of the government through the end of the year.

Feds not ready for ISIS in Texas, but Sheriff Gary Painter is

President Obama promises to "degrade" ISIS, whatever that means. They cut off people's heads. We respond by "degrading" them (and never with boots on the ground, unless we do, or something). I would feel better if we heard the sort of seriousness from Obama that we hear from Sheriff Gary Painter of Midland, Texas:
