Sustainable Development: The Root of All Our Problems

In his book, Earth in the Balance, Al Gore warned that a "wrenching transformation" must take place to lead America away from the "horrors of the Industrial Revolution." The process to do that is called Sustainable Development and its' roots can be traced back to a UN policy document called Agenda 21, adopted at the UN's Earth Summit in 1992.

Trading with the Enemy

“Dear David, I badly need your help. Some time ago a Russian newspaper “Vremya Novostei” published a story written by Arkady Dubnov, one of the best informed Russian journalists on Central Asia, about the alleged role of the US Air Force in heroin traffic from Afghanistan to Europe. He wrote that the US Air Force transported 85% of heroin produced in Afghanistan. Dubnov quotes anonymous Afghani sources (there are also some accusations of Karzai’s brothers who take part in this scheme).

Attack on “hate speech” is an attack on the messenger

Safaa IBRAHIMSafaa IBRAHIM is the Executive Director of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) - San Francisco Bay Area chapter in Santa Clara, California. Soft foreign policy hurts the U.S.

If American diplomacy were delivering on its promises, we'd be heading into boom times for peace and security. Instead, the new year begins with Washington foreign policy increasingly cocooned in a cloud of "soft power," trying to deflect threats through the wiles of diplomacy, the art of the deal. Welcome to the world of wishful thinking.

A PROMISE MADE, A PROMISE KEPT

Lance Cpl. Travis LayfieldToday I surrendered a valuable possession. A selfish part of me wanted to hold onto a simple silver keepsake because of the powerful emotional connection to it, but the better part of me wanted to give it away as quickly as possible. At a lunch table overlooking the breathless view of the San Francisco Bay, I took off a bracelet that I have been wearing since Christmas Eve and firmly placed it on the wrist of its rightful owner.
