Protesters fight back against feds’ handling of border surge

THE SPARK: Demonstrators confront each other July 4 outside a U.S. Border Patrol station in Murrieta, Calif. Demonstrators on both sides of the immigration debate had gathered where the agency was foiled earlier in an attempt to bus in and process some of the immigrants who have flooded the Texas border with Mexico.

Education: None Dare Call Them Commies

Historically, Socialism and Communism were sometimes synonyms. But generally there was a sense that Socialism was softer. If you had enough power, you moved on to Communism, which was more coercive.

Egypt's Al-Sisi struggles for democracy: Fights terrorism

Some would say Egypt now leads the world in the war against terror, and Egyptians are relieved to see punishment for Morsi’s Muslim Brotherhood backers. Concerned with Egypt’s “overall stability” during his June visit to Cairo, John Kerry cautioned President Al-Sisi about the recent death sentences for MB members (theguardian.com, June 22), emphasizing tactical errors in the political environment. State Department officials are concerned by Al-Sisi’s “polarizing” tactics and seem to imply that getting on with the business of democracy has nothing to do with cleaning corruption and hunting down jihadists. If Al-Sisi manages to convert an Islamic state to anywhere near the full experience of human rights and equality it would be a first in this part of the world, and it would require beginning with the hardline he has now taken.

Forty-six Democrat Senators Want to Change our Laws Strictly for Politics

Forty-six Democrat Senators Want to Change our Laws for Strictly Politics
The impossible just got legs for a potential possibility; and not a good one at that. In a bare-faced political move, forty-six elected Democrats in our United States Senate; that's EIGHTY-SEVEN PERCENT of all Democrats, are willing to make a change to our most predominant, most revered and oldest established legal document, the United States Constitution, all for their desire for more political power in our government.

Winning the Moral High Ground is a Loser's Game

Better to fire than be fired upon. Better to be thought a criminal, than mourned in Holocaust museums. Better to leave the moral high ground to those who worship the romance of endless bloodshed and defeat. Better to lose the peace and win the war

Dinesh D'Souza Tells the True Story of America

Dinesh D'Souza Tells the True Story of America
Dinesh D’Souza’s latest film, “America, Imagine a World Without Her,” which earned a rare A+ rating from CinemaScore, is apparently such a threat to progressive ideology that Costco initially ordered the book on which the movie is based removed from its shelves. One can understand why: the film is a devastating takedown of those who see America as the primary source of evil in the world.

The Education Racket in Manitoba

Winnipeg, Manitoba--What day would be complete in Manitoba without hearing about another case of government foisting sub-par and over-priced services on citizens? The latest is the 9.32% pay increase the thread-bare teachers and their unions negotiated recently in the bustling metropolis of Flin Flon Manitoba, where teachers are eligible, according to their collective bargaining agreement, for salaries up to $102,000 annually. And tragically, this little school division is indicative of a Canada-wide public education system that is bleeding taxpayers dry while short-changing students.

No Trend in Peak Flows on Fraser River Since Records Began

A new report released in Vancouver, British Columbia has found that "more frequent floods [on the Fraser River] could threaten 300,000 people's homes and $50 billion worth of property." Apparently "the report says 100-year flood events on the Fraser could now occur as often as every four to 10 years." And all of this is due to climate change.

Promoting Parasitic Power Producers

Wind and solar are parasitic power producers, unable to survive in a modern electricity grid without the back-up of stand-alone electricity generators such as hydro, coal or gas. And like all parasites, they weaken their hosts, causing increased operating and transmission costs and reduced profits for all participants in the grid.

Justina Pelletier Tells Her Story on Capitol Hill

Washington, DC—Today, Justina Pelletier visited Washington, D.C., to tell members of Congress about the ordeal she experienced at the hands of the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF) and Boston Children's Hospital. Justina urged Congress to pass “Justina's Law,” a bill named after her which would defund involuntary medical research upon children in state custody. Liberty Counsel began representing the Pelletiers in late February and worked diligently in the courts to free Justina. Liberty Counsel’s office in Washington, D.C., arranged for Justina's testimony today, along with other meetings with legislators this week.

Obamacare Must Be Repealed

While the issue of immigration is uppermost in people’s minds right now, it is likely at this point halfway through his second term that President Obama will be identified by historians most closely with his signature, namesake legislation, the Affordable Patient Care Act, otherwise known as Obamacare.
