ObamaCare, This Won’t Hurt a Bit

Thousands of articles have been written and commentaries made since the Affordable Care Act nobody can afford has passed. In spite of the vociferous demands to defund it coming from the majority of the American people who work for a living instead of voting more welfare for themselves, the best health care in the world will gradually disappear, replaced by a radical form of socialized medicine that most Americans are not prepared to understand or accept.

The Government’s Endless Orgy of Spending

I frequently marvel that a loon like Nancy Pelosi could have become Speaker of the House and is currently the House minority leader. Recently she said, “The cupboard is bare. There’s no more cuts to make. It’s really important that people understand that. We cannot have cuts just for the sake of cuts.”

ObamaCare overview: Explaining the basics

Do you actually understand the basic facts of ObamaCare? I ask that question not to insult your intelligence, but simply in recognition of the fact that the news media tends to cover the politics of the issue, but doesn't give much attention to the substance. That's a problem because it's one thing to be against government-run health care in the abstract, but when you really know how ObamaCare works, you'll understand why this particular approach is so flawed - and why it has already failed so abysmally.

Reuters: House to tie debt ceiling to one-year Obamacare delay

Now that Ted Cruz's not-a-filibuster is over, political watchdogs have been wondering what the next step in the Obamacare battle will be. The two main options were both focused around raising the debt ceiling. In exchange for increasing the limit, Republicans were expected to either A: make another run at defunding, or B: demand a one year across-the-board delay. Reuters claims to have the answer.

Pete King calls Ted Cruz a ‘fraud’ engaged in ‘governmental terrorism’

Yesterday, I wrote that the old guard RINO wing of the GOP was collapsing because the base had aligned itself with politicians willing to place principle above party. As if on cue, a who’s who of go-along-to-get-along Republicans has crawled out of the woodwork. First up, we had John McCain. He was angry, but his diatribe was nothing compared to the double-barreled rage-fest being employed by New York Republican Rep. Pete King.

BBC: Climate Sceptics Confident They Are Winning The Argument

In the run up to a key global warming report, those sceptical of mainstream opinion on climate change claim they are “winning” the argument. They say a slowing of temperature rises in the past 15 years means the threat from climate change is exaggerated. --Matt McGrath, BBC News, 26 September 2016

$43,000 Per Household

Did you know that since President Obama came into office, the debt limit has been raised seven times?

Still more rising incompetents

It appears political parties require not that the most enterprising and qualified people exhibiting modesty, intelligence and a history of hard work be promoted within the hierarchy but, that the most conceited, greedy, lazy and self-serving, rhetoric rich and substance challenged should rise to the top echelons of the group. It appears from observation the worst examples of candidates are presented with party backing while those possibly more qualified are disallowed the financial support and backing necessary to prevail.

The Myth of the 1995 Government Shut-Down

In a recent radio interview, Newt Gingrich responded to the ongoing myth that the government shutdown during his tenure as House Speaker hurt the Republican Party.

Turns out the IRS doesn’t bother to keep track of its ObamaCare spending

Certain fictional characters are part of the lore of the Calabrese family, and these include a couple of small-time thieves named Mugsy and Boss. Mugsy is the big, dumb type, and as the Boss is explaining the latest criminal escapade to be undertaken - a home burglary, a jewerly store theft, etc. - Mugsy always protests: "But that's against the law!"

Why think small? Liberal columnist wants to make Hillary president of the universe

My favorite gushing-over-Hillary pieces are the ones that rush headlong into the absurd. That is not to say any pro-Hillary piece fails to be absurd. A pro-Hillary piece is absurd by definition. But those in the liberal intelligensia have to constantly try to one-up each other in setting the standard for Hillary-adoring blather, and on first glance I thought Sally Kohn's piece in the Daily Beast would be hard to top.

Seizing Homes to Solve the Mortgage Meltdown?

Once again, California is burnishing its reputation as the nation's premiere location for oppressive government. In a 4-3 vote on September 11, the Richmond City Council approved a measure whereby the city would use the government power of eminent domain to seize hundreds of "underwater" mortgages. After seizing the mortgages, the city would offer the banks what it considers a fair market value for them. In turn, homeowners would be granted a new loan with lower monthly payments aimed at keeping those owners in their houses. Lenders have filed lawsuits to keep the plan from proceeding.

Government Shut Down

As Congress gears up for another fight over funding the government, the Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act, commonly known as ObamaCare, once again takes center stage. In the funding process, only the House of Representatives is authorized to originate bills raising revenue for the government and the House has approved a bill that would fund the general operations of the government, but not ObamaCare. For this bill to become law, the Senate must also pass it and the President must sign what was passed by both houses of Congress. So if the government were to experience another shut down whose fault is it?

Child beauty contests off in France, Britain still hangs in the wind

The French government has stepped up to the plate, acting against the increasing sexualization of young girls by ordering an end to beauty pageants for children aged under 16. The architect is French Senator Chantal Jouanno, who authored the report ‘Against Hyper-Sexualisation: A New Fight For Equality’. The legislation, an amendment to a larger bill, received 196 votes for and 146 against. But a separate amendment pushing for better regulation of child models was rejected.

McCain takes to Senate floor to scold Cruz for fighting ObamaCare

"Elections have consequences, and those elections were clear that a significant majority supported the president of the United States and renewed his stewardship of this country." Honestly, you watch this, and you just cringe with embarassment for the guy. I know he's done nothing good lately, but it's sad to see a man who really did heroically endure so much for his country looking and sounding this pathetic.
