The Tea Party Express VIII – Winning For America Tour finished it’s sixth day. It has been a great start to the tour having held several rallies in Florida, Georgia and covering the state of North Carolina. The number of first time attendees at a Tea Party rally were surprising. When talking to folks we were told they are coming out to show support and get informed. They are trying to find out if the liberal media is lying to them about the demise of the Tea Party. We assure them that “Yes, the media is lying! The Tea Party is alive and well.”

Toronto Housing Starts Rise in August

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire) - Housing starts for the Toronto Census Metropolitan Area were trending at 54,600 units in August according to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). The trend is a moving average of the monthly seasonally adjusted annual rates (SAAR)(1) of total starts data. The standalone monthly SAAR was 64,500 units, up from 51,700 units in July.

Landowners Seek to Return Conservation Authorities’ Powers to Their Original Mandate

There is a debate at Ottawa City Hall as to whether the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority (RVCA) delayed repairs to a sewer pipe on highway 174. As we understand it, city staff applied in February to do the needed lining repair work on the pipe in question between April 16 and July 31 of this year. This suggests some urgency that the work be done sooner rather than later. RVCA replied to the city that no in-water work could occur between March 15 and July 1 of any given year.

Mining industry payments to Canadian governments reached $9 billion in 2011: Report

OTTAWA, - The Mining Association of Canada (MAC) today released its annual report on mining industry payments to Canadian provincial and federal governments. The report, prepared by ENTRANS Policy Research Group, found payments reached an estimated $9 billion last year in aggregate mining taxes and royalties, corporate income taxes and personal income taxes.

New Subaru BRZ earns top award from IIHS

MISSISSAUGA, ON, - Subaru Canada, Inc. today announced that the brand new 2013 Subaru BRZ has earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's (IIHS) top award for good performance in its moderate overlap frontal, side, rollover and rear impact evaluations. Update: Pakistani Christian girl remains imprisoned; accuser charged with blasphemy

(Source: Christian Solidarity Worldwide) Rimsha Masih, a Christian Pakistani teenager who was accused of desecrating the Qur'an, has been in prison for two and a half weeks. After several delays, the high profile blasphemy case is now scheduled for September 7. Rimsha is believed to have Down's Syndrome and is deemed to be 14 years old (for more information, click here).
