Lightfoot: A look back into the future

Lightfoot: A look back into the futureHave you ever felt as if you were very blessed? I know some folks might say “lucky” instead of blessed, but I don’t believe in luck. Things happen for a reason. A reason that only God knows. I was blessed to have taken my first breath in the Florence Crittenden Home for Unwed Mothers in Sioux City, Iowa almost exactly one year before the outbreak of World War II. My birth mother thought my life was just as important as hers. At the age of 19, she knew she was not in a position to raise a child. That left her two choices: have me aborted or put me up for adoption. She chose the latter, rather than going through life carrying the load of two bad choices and mistakes.

Their Plan is Working

Their Plan is Working“You Americans are so gullible. No, you won't accept communism outright, but we'll keep feeding you small doses of socialism until you'll finally wake up and find you already have communism. We won't have to fight you. We'll so weaken your economy until you'll fall like overripe fruit into our hands.” Quote by Nikita Khrushchev, successor to Joseph Stalin as head of the Russian Government. There is another chilling quote from this Communist leader that is shrouded in a bit of controversy of whether Khrushchev actually uttered the words. “America, we will bury you without firing a shot!”

Barn Sour

Barn SourI don’t know if I am just barn sour from being locked down with the COVID 19 shutdown or I’m just getting old and crabby. Since the Governor told us folks over the age of eighty to stay home until this virus thing improves, I have watched far more television than is good for any reasonable person. As far as the news is concerned, I’ve found that watching it with the sound turned off is the only acceptable way. If you just watch the pictures and don’t have to listen to the biased announcers, you get a pretty good idea of what is going on.

The National Debt, does anyone care?

The National Debt, does anyone care? Now that we have the Democrat debates underway it’s time to turn our attention to carefully listen to what the potential candidates have to say. Are they talking about issues that are really important to the nation? Or, are they talking about proposed plans and schemes that will get them elected? Out here in the real world much of what we hear is a bit confusing and is difficult to understand.

Stop it, Children

Stop it, ChildrenStop it, children; just stop it! No, those remarks are not aimed at a group of kindergarteners acting up on the playground. They are aimed directly at the Members of Congress that are hell-bent on destroying each other rather than do the job they were hired to do. Listening to what is coming out of Washington, DC sounds more like a bunch of spoiled children in a sandbox fighting over a toy than a group of mature adults elected to do some of the most important work in the world!

One Voice

One VoiceLet me preface this with a couple of personal remarks. First, I’m just an old country boy that grew up in the 1950s. Second, I hold no degrees from famous institutions of higher learning. Third, I am a strong believer in our maker God and His son Jesus Christ. Fourth, It is my belief that we have to make our own way in this world, the exception being those with mental and physical handicaps; and these are people we need to help.

I Have a Question

I Have a QuestionLet’s assume you are having coffee with some of your favorite buddies down at the corner café. In the course of conversation one of your friends says, “America is the source of most of the world’s ills: political, economic, and environmental.” Whoa! What did he say? Yes, you heard it right, “America is the source of most of the world’s ills: political, economic, and environmental.”

Where Do We Go From Here?

Where Do We Go From Here?As a retired Member of Congress (1985-97), my heart breaks for what we are leaving our kids and grandchildren. We have failed to keep our country together.  We have been shamed into letting happen what has taken place with our culture for fear of offending someone, either personally or as a group.

Decompress

An article by Gregg Zoroya, “USA TODAY” highlights an issue our country is facing that needs attention and, as possible, correction. Too many people in our military are victims of suicide.

Plagiarism dust up at RNC

I’m sure you are aware of the hours and hours that the networks have dedicated to making a huge fuss over Mrs. Trump’s speech last night. Caroline Hicks, with KETK in Tyler came over for an interview this morning based on an email I posted on Facebook. Here is the email: An email I sent to all the so-called major news outlets.Probably won't get any attention, but I had to say it after all the sanctimonious garbage over Mrs. Trump's speech last night.

Eulogy: We gather here today to lay to rest a dear, dear friend. A friend that took us through wars, natural disasters, terrible economic times and used these tests of our will and strength to build us into the most marvelous country on the face of the globe!

If they find my body floating face down

As a brief history, some of you will remember the FBI siege of the Branch Davidian Compound in Waco, Texas, April 19, 1993. After the flames died down, a good and honorable man, Steve Higgins, then Director of ATF, was scapegoated by the press and the Congress. Mr. Higgins stepped down as Director. His staff had lied and misled him regarding the actions on the ground at Waco.

Indict Holder

Northwest of Nogales, AZ Peck Canyon is a hotbed for illegal drugs and a battleground between illegals coming from Mexico fighting amongst themselves and the US Border Patrol. At 11:15 PM the night of December 14, 2010 the Border Patrol is watching a “rip crew”, (illegals that prey on other illegals moving drugs into the US). The illegal rip crew was in a position to ambush anyone coming up the canyon.
