What It Means to be a ‘True’ Canadian

I've been reminded by all the current chatter about immigration through the impressionable speech to new Canadian citizens of the time of Prime Minister Wilfred Laurier's ideas on immigrants and being a new Canadian in 1907, as follows:

The Lottery

The case of Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, an Iranian woman under threat of death by stoning for alleged adultery, is thankfully giving Iranian officials a massive PR headache, exposing the Islamic republic's legal system as barbaric and tribal. Had her prosecutors read Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery" they might've entertained sober second thoughts about opting for this mode of execution for the "crime" of adultery.

American “tolerance” & Obama are both gone

It is no secret that Americans are now being led by a government that is not operating with the consent of her citizens. What the world does not understand is that this type of control does not work in America and will not be allowed to remain.

The Woodcarver, And Other Stories of Faith and Inspiration

imageThe Woodcarver is a collection of feature and cover articles written for national and international Christian publications over the past two decades on matters of faith. These true stories illustrate how the Holy Spirit, acting through people and serendipitous events, changes lives in a powerful way. The collection of inspirational stories takes its title from The Woodcarver--a true story of the author's chance encounter with a German woodcarver--an ex-Nazi who had been a prisoner of war in the American South. During his captivity, the whites treated him badly, but the blacks were kind to him. He developed a love for black people that contradicted the stereotypical attitude of the Nazis. The Woodcarver taught the author a valuable lesson about stereotypes and how the Woodcarver's love of the faith found expression in a piece of oak.

Positive alternatives to spending billions on warplanes

The Prime Minister says there was no politicin' during his trip North. The RCAF warplanes flying to our common border and the Russian bombers turning 'round rather than crossing just happened to be reported, justifying the up to $15 billion purchase of new fighter planes. Lt.-Gen. Andre Deschamps, the head of Canada's air force, chimed in supportively saying " the primary role of the new jet will be to control the country's airspace."

A visitor from the past

Mr. Prime Minister, Sir, While I am reasonably certain you never get to see these messages of concern, fear and sometimes anger, perhaps those that provide you your daily in-put will footnote some briefings with this timeless and urgent wisdom that comes from the past – and that no member of the Left and totalitarian present have even dreamed.
