Pipelines to prosperity

What no one seems to comprehend about any pipeline is their safety. The only major 'moving part' of a pipeline is whatever you pump through it! Whereas a railroad with hundreds of trains pulling thousands of tank cars over hundreds of thousands of miles of track spiked to wooden ties, has millions of moving parts from the roof of the locomotives down to the gravel in the roadbeds. Statistics show volume of spillage from pipelines is miniscule compared to the numerous spills, fires and exploding tank cars from, track separations other incidents that we experience every year; and I'm not even taking into account the human operating factors.

UN Climate Treaty May Fail Over Economic Risks, Tony Abbott Warns

Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott on Wednesday warned that next year’s landmark climate change summit in Paris will fail if world leaders decide to put cutting carbon emissions ahead of economic growth. “It’s vital that the Paris conference be a success… and for it to be a success, we can’t pursue environmental improvements at the expense of economic progress,” Abbott said. “We can’t reduce emissions in ways which cost jobs because it will fail if that’s what we end up trying to do.” --Jane Aardell, Reuters, 19 November 2014

GWPF Calls For Halt To UK Low Carbon International Climate Funding

The Global Warming Policy Forum is today calling for the UK's new international climate finance contribution to go towards helping developing countries with adaptation measures to increase their resilience, rather than the funds being allocated to low carbon development.

Reid's pretend Keystone XL vote doesn't save Keystone or Mary Landrieu

Mary Landrieu is desperate to save her seat in the U.S. Senate. It looks like she's going to lose it in next month's runoff against Congressman Bill Cassidy. And we know for a fact that Harry Reid won't be Senate Majority Leader anymore after January 1 - a fact for which we thank God daily.

Keystone Killed

The ongoing theatrics surrounding the Keystone XL pipeline continued in earnest Tuesday. Desperate Democrat incumbent Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) spent the afternoon trying to secure the critical 60th vote necessary for the filibuster-proof majority that would get the legislation through the Senate and onto Obama's desk, while her fellow Democrats weighed the pros and cons of alienating their radical environmentalist constituency. Democrats chose to stand with the radicals, defeating the bill by a 59-41 vote.

Red Agitators More "Militarized" Than Police

Remember when the media were complaining about the "militarization" of the police in Ferguson? ABC News is now reporting that the police have reason to be worried and well-armed. ABC News Justice Department reporter Pierre Thomas says the FBI is warning about violent extremists and outside agitators targeting the city.

Why Does Washington Want to Hide Science Data From the Public?

When federal bureaucrats drive up costs for American families and businesses through heavy-handed regulation, it shouldn’t be too much to ask for a solid scientific underpinning for that regulation. And it shouldn’t be too big of a burden for the federal government to make its data available to the public. Congressman David Schweikert’s, R-Ariz., Secret Science Reform Act (HR 4012) would address this.

Having learned nothing, Democrats re-elect Nancy Pelosi to captain their Titanic

During the midterms, conservatives watched in horror as Nancy Pelosi led her party to a stunning victory in the House of Representatives. Pundits assumed it was impossible, but she applied her grace, intellect, and sharp strategic skills. By the end of the night the Democrats had retaken the lower house. While we're upset about this, we can't help but be impressed by her clear thinking and her deft maneuvering.

Arthurian gusto

Years ago I addressed a popular politician conducting a Town Hall Meeting in my community. I took my son to introduce him to the type of small-town political action was famous in my New England village. We met at the Town Hall and regularly questioned, addressed and let our positions be known concerning the conduct of government. It was quaint and the subject of a Norman Rockwell painting. That image is powerful in its silent statement it’s the right of the people to have their voices heard, understood and respected by their representatives.

Inside the Comic Book Jonathan Gruber Wrote to Sell Obamacare to America

Jonathan Gruber, the Obamacare architect made notorious in newly surfaced videos, credits the “stupidity of the American voter” with helping pass the Affordable Care Act. To help Americans understand the law, it turns out, Gruber wrote — and starred in — a 150-page comic book titled “Health Care Reform: What It Is, Why It’s Necessary, How It Works.”

Nothing much to ‘like’ about political tool Facebook

With the proverbial horse long out of the barn, the ubiquitous Facebook is now reported to be slamming the door on Barack Hussein Obama. “An upcoming code change means Obama’s groundbreaking 2012 outreach on the site won’t happen again.” (Yahoo, Nov. 17, 2014)

The Two Ukraines

“Obama is just not up to the task—a geopolitical lightweight who was easily outmaneuvered in Syria and Iran.” That’s Marin Katusa, writing in his new book, “The Colder War: How the Global Energy Trade Slipped from America’s Grasp” ($29.95, John Wiley and Sons, and Casey Research). Katusa is no fan of President Obama, but one might wonder who is these days other than the 48% of Americans who think he’s doing a great job. Calling them stupid as the now famed Jonathan Gruber of ObamaCare fame has done is not far from the mark.

If global warming is Bush's fault, then Obama is responsible for this bullcrap

In case you didn't know, yesterday was my birthday. I've now had 48 of those, Now, since my birthday is November 17, I've never before spent one in the midst of a massive winter snowstorm - even though I live in Michigan. We have long, cold winters, but they don't start this early with this kind of intensity.
