Ontario government’s blatant scheme to buy votes

It’s no secret that governments, especially those of the liberal persuasion, love to confiscate money from the taxpayers and use it to bribe them into supporting their caring and compassionate government. The recent ice storm in Ontario gave Premier Kathleen Wynne a great opportunity to put the dictum of former Obama Chief of Staff and current mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel, into practice—never let a good crisis go to waste.

LA Top Cop Relocates to Maine, Learns Truth About Armed Citizens

Sometimes it takes a while for the factual truths to emerge, but they usually always do. Take the case of police officer James Craig, who began his career in one of America's hottest or hot-beds, Los Angeles. Officer Craig spent 28 years in that venue and was an avowed supporter of gun control which in that heavily crime infested city.

The Government-assigned Concrete Block Apartments

An American diplomat who flew over communist Romania during Ceausescu’s reign of terror asked the innocent question, where are the farmers and their homes, I see nothing but fields of green everywhere?

Obama's "Climate Change" Lies

The extreme cold that gripped the nation at the beginning of the year just added to the growing public dismissal of the claims that “greenhouse gas emissions” would lead to a dangerous stage of “global warming.” Indeed, even the charlatans that have devoted decades to this hoax are now using the phrase “climate change.”

The Muslim Suicide Convert

Both of the suicide bombers who struck in Russia were Muslim converts. They follow a long string of Muslim terrorist converts, including the murderers of British soldier Lee Rigby who were sentenced last month and Terry Lee Loewen who plotted to car bomb the Wichita Mid-Continent Airport that same month.

A couple to emulate: Congratulations on 69 years!

I know some of you don't like them because he was "not a true conservative," or because she's maybe kinda sorta pro-choice or something. Forget about that for a minute and focus on this:

Kentucky ObamaCare exchange forces Rand Paul's son into Medicaid

As we're sure you're aware, Democrats say that signing up for ObamaCare is your civic as well as your "patriotic" duty. Heck, the left even claims that they've conferred with the man upstairs and they can promise you that God wants you to do it. If you're going to "enroll" (whatever that means this week), they'll tell you that there's no better way to register than via Kentucky's state-run exchange.

Rep. Pete King: Rand Paul doesn't care if New Yorkers die

Republican Representative Pete King's disdain for anyone who would impose hard line constitutional compliance on the military or intelligence communities has been a decades-long mainstay. It's well-documented and not really worth digging into again. When Senator Rand Paul started pressing the issue, King was one of the loudest - and angriest - voices of opposition. Since Paul hasn't dropped his strict constructionist stance, King has been forced to ramp up the rhetoric. It's become painfully obvious that King absolutely despises Paul's political stance, and that's fine, but this weekend he took it a step too far.

Marijuana legalization is nothing to celebrate

I could write thousands of words about this, but I don't really want to today. People's positions on marijuana set in so hard that it doesn't really matter what facts you put before them. A study that shows brain impact or a connection to psychosis (and they're easy enough to find, so go ahead and look if you want) is simply written off as fraudulent by the determined stoner. Then you sit there arguing about which "study" is legitimate. It's a waste of time.

It’s Roddenberry’s fault

This is all Gene Roddenberry’s fault. Recently, I started a quest to understand economics. I already had an awareness of Capitalism, Marxism, Socialism, Communism and many other “isms” plaguing the world. I use the word “plaguing” advisedly because nothing is surer than a war; the deaths resultant from that war and the reshaping and reconstruction of nations and their relations with each other will be a result of economics.

The wages of national security fraud

As al Qaeda raises its black flag of jihad over parts of Iraq liberated from its clutches at the cost of enormous American blood and treasure, we are getting a taste of what President Obama’s serial national security fraud is wreaking around the world.

If You Like Your Light Bulb, You Can’t Keep Your Light Bulb

Americans will be feeling a new and unexpected pain of government overregulation before they vote in November. Yet, more than two-thirds of the public is currently unaware of what has the potential to be a serious 2014 election issue—representing more government intrusion and meddling with free markets, increased cost, loss of American jobs, and the elimination of choice.

The Scientist As A Rebel

Freeman Dyson, one of the world's most eminent theoretical physicists, recently celebrated his 90th birthday. Born in England on 15 December 1923, Freeman Dyson graduated from Cambridge University in 1945 with a BA in mathematics. In 1947, he moved to the USA where he went to work at Cornell University and, later, at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. Professor Dyson is a member of the GWPF’s Academic Advisory Council. On the occasion of his 90th birthday, we republish an CCNet-interview he gave Benny Peiser in March 2007.

The National Debt in One Picture

Congress is beginning its new year with a budget deal that busts right through “caps” it was supposed to have on spending. At Heritage, we want to hold Congress accountable for its tax-and-spend ways, even as Members claim there’s no room to cut.

Should the NSA Be Watching Senator Sanders?

Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders is making headlines with his letter to the NSA demanding to know if the spy agency has been monitoring Congress. Not one article has dared to ask whether Sanders and other “progressive” members of Congress should be under surveillance because of their contacts with foreign intelligence agencies.
