U.S. going way too easy on Iran, say . . . French socialists?

You think it's just Benjamin Netanyahu who is horrified at the easy deal the Obama Administration is prepared to give Iran over nuclear weapons? Well, it is him, but not only him. Far from it. How bad have things gotten when the socialist government of France thinks you're being a patsy?

Cruz a natural-born citizen

There was much media buzz about U.S. Senator Ted Cruz being a possible 2016 Presidential candidate after he led the recent effort to defund Obamacare. As a result, a new “Birther” movement arose among some of the political opponents of Cruz, in which they argue that Senator Ted Cruz does not meet the Constitutional requirements for President.

Australia Says 'No' To $100 Billion Climate Fund

The federal cabinet has ruled that Australia will not sign up to any new contributions, taxes or charges at this week's global summit on climate change, in a significant toughening of its stance as it plans to move within days to repeal the carbon tax. This rules out Australia playing any role in a wealth transfer from rich countries to developing nations to pay them to decrease their carbon emissions. The decision hardens the nation's approach to the UN's negotiations amid a renewed push from less-developed countries this week for $100 billion a year in finance to deal with climate change. --Greg Sheridan, The Australian, 11 November 2013

Do Teachers Really Know Best?

Teachers have been maligned, derided, put on a pedestal, ignored, followed, awarded, lionized, and sued by parents. Administrators choose their favorite teachers as educators of the year, star teachers, or outstanding faculty, lavishing praise and accolades on those they deem the best team players.

Why Our Veterans Fight

We get a feeling when we see the American flag raised, the national anthem played, and our men and women in uniform saluting. Children look up and put their hands over their hearts. Men take off their hats. For a moment, we are united.

Who’s to Blame for Battlefield America? Is It Militarized Police or the Militarized Culture?

It’s hard to pinpoint what exactly is responsible for the growing spate of police shootings, brutality and overreach that have come to dominate the news lately, whether it’s due to militarized police, the growing presence of military veterans in law enforcement, the fact that we are a society predisposed to warfare, indoctrinated through video games, reality TV shows, violent action movies and a series of endless wars that have, for younger generations, become life as they know it—or all of the above.

Apologies from Utopia

Apologies, like postcards and encyclopedias, are another of those elements of our past being left behind in the detritus of the old twentieth.

Social Liberalism Create Fiscal Profligacy

"I am fiscally conservative and socially liberal." "I lean right fiscally, I lean left socially." "I believe that you should keep your money but do whatever you want with your body." "I want the government out of my wallet and out of my bedroom." This line of political thinking has gained traction in our country.

Grounds for Impeachment

I am beginning to think that, short of Obama being videotaped murdering a Fox News reporter on the east lawn of the White House, he will not be impeached.

The Obama Purchase: Liberals Still Can't Admit They Bought a Clunker

Many years ago I knew a couple who adopted the habit of being gratuitously defensive about one another. If you made even the slightest comment questioning one of them in the other's presence, that party would say something such as "Watch it!" The admonition, however, would lack a certain conviction.

The Chris Christie Circus!

The inevitable speculation regarding Chris Christie has begun. Isn’t it amazing how the puppeteer elites, including their puppet-politicians and media appendages, choreographed the entire Chris Christie circus? Most everyone is chomping on the bait offered by the media and both ‘major’ political parties, regarding the ‘resounding’ Christie victory at the polls, but let’s step back to see the entire forest, not just the trees.

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations opens speech by honoring Jane Fonda

When, in the wake of the Benghazi scandal, Susan Rice left her post as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, we all hoped her replacement would be ...a bit more competent. This week her successor, Samantha Power, dashed those hopes. Power spoke Wednesday in New York, where she was addressing the United Nations Association of the USA 2013 Global Leadership Awards.
