One of the earliest signs that a government may be on the brink of turning fascist is if it seeks to eliminate press organizations that criticize the regime.
It’s a tale as old as time. Authoritarians commonly fear that their citizenry may revolt against their oppressive rule, so they obsessively work to suppress the public’s ability to learn about what their rulers are doing. And there’s no better way to do that than by crushing the free press.
The modern Democratic Party knows this well, and its members are following the autocrat playbook by working to shut down a TV network that criticized them. That’s illegal, but they don’t care. They’re doing it anyway.
