Justin Trudeau is completely satisfied to tweet out his shock and utter vague generalities about fighting terrorism. He won’t even recognize who the terrorists are even after they win

84 killed in France and Justin Trudeau goes tweet tweet tweet

There is nothing inherently wrong with politicians and elected leaders using Twitter and other social media platforms to express their thoughts, even though they sometimes get into a lot of trouble that way. But as soon as news of the attack in Nice surfaced, Canadians knew it would not be long before the Prime Minister would hit Twitter. As with death and taxes, it was a certainty Trudeau would use the word “shocked” in his comments about what had taken place in France. And Justin, one of the most, if not the most disappointing prime minister in Canadian history, did not disappoint.
Trudeau tweeted he “was shocked and saddened.” But the worst part of the tweet was the fact he said “Canadians are shocked by tonight’s attack in Nice.” As prime minister, Trudeau has the right to speak on behalf of Canada; that is the Canadian government. Had he said Canada was shocked, it would have been permissible. But to say that Canadians were shocked was condescending and wrong. It was insulting to all those Canadians who understand the threat Islam poses throughout the world. Only those Canadians that have their heads in the sand were “shocked.” Terrorist attacks by Islamofascists, large ones such the one that took place in Nice are becoming quite common. They are becoming like murders committed by guns. While these murders are indeed shocking when they happen down the street or around the corner, there is nothing shocking about murders that take place in other neighbourhoods or cities. To those who understand what is going on in the world, there is nothing shocking about the attack on Nice. Using a truck to mow down and kill 84 people while injuring many more was different but hardly shocking. We are not shocked, Trudeau. And don’t tell the world that we Canadians are shocked when a radical extremist kills innocent men, women and children while they were having fun at a holiday celebration.

The major problem is that when someone like Trudeau sends out a tweet, they think they have accomplished something. It accomplishes nothing other than “Look at me!!! I care.” In a longer statement issued by the Trudeau’s office, as well as the usual platitudes Trudeau actually used the “t-word,” saying Canada will work with our allies and partners and fight terrorism in all its forms yada, yada, yada. But of course he did not name the terrorists Canada and the allies need to fight. It is nonsensical to say we (particularly to the men and women in the armed forces) have to fight without naming the enemy. It was all just words, many of them limited to 140 characters. We need specific actions, not tweets and Facebook posts. The main danger facing Canada and other countries is from home grown Islamic terrorists such as Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel who drove the truck into the group of Bastille Day revellers. One person who actually has some ideas to fight what is a war that elites like Trudeau refuse to recognize is former U.S. Speaker Newt Gingrich.

Gingrich appeared on Hannity the same day as the attack on France. Unfortunately his ideas were lost after he began with the impractical and unconstitutional idea of interviewing Muslims to see if they believe in Sharia and if they do, deport them. This statement grabbed all the media attention while the rest of what he said went unnoticed. Gingrich starts with the premise that the West is at war with radical Islam, something Western leaders will not recognize. We should concentrate on mosques and the Internet; the two places where people become radicalized. Mosques should be monitored and anyone who goes onto jihadi websites should be charged with a crime. His best idea is to go after servers who host Islamic websites. If they cannot be taken down by cyber-attacks, physical force should be used including killing those who host such sites. After all this is a war. But there is no way Trudeau will ever even contemplate doing any of those things. He is completely satisfied to tweet out his shock and utter vague generalities about fighting terrorism. He won’t even recognize who the terrorists are even after they win.
