Sometimes I get feedback from readers that my columns are "out there," that I do not "have a grip" on events ... other times the silence is deafening and a bit disconcerting.
I can assure you I am neither "out there," nor have I lost any "grip." My faculties are in full "lock and load" status. I believe the recent events speak for themselves and prove me out.
On October 6, 2009, I wrote a
column about McChrystal's relations with Obama, and the General's erstwhile Democrat admirers on the Left. This is almost 9 months ago ... an eternity in politics. I ask you to read the article again and tell me whether I was accurate about McChrystal's fate, or whether I was just a "blind boar accidentally rooting a truffle."
I was not surprised by this last week's events. It is not fortune telling. Mr. Obama has a "tell." He plainly states his intentions; but, few take him literally. Why? Because he also lies a lot and few call him on it. One simply needs to strip away the bombast, the boasting, and the lies and see what remains. What is left, is Left.
Today, in the press, I see my phrase, "MacArthur Moment,"used frequently in the press and by "talking heads." Many people wonder why they did not see this military shake-up coming. I will speculate that General McChrystal, the ascetic Liberal Warrior, thought he was immune from attack by the Left. General McChrystal forgot to guard his flanks and his rear. He thought the press, apparently any press, was his friend. "Rolling Stone" infiltrated his camp and they withdrew to attack from the rear while the President's people turned on his flanks. I don't think this was a mistake or a coincidence. Somewhere, a Public Affairs Officer was involved, somewhere someone in McChrystal's Camp said, "Off the Record, please," but was ignored deliberately, and somewhere in Obama's Camp somebody said, "We got him!" There is a modus operandi here; study his methods in this chaos, let's do our "After Action Review" people!
There is a "transformational revolution" that is going on before our very eyes; and we are either distracted by Obama's sleight of hand or falling asleep during the deliberately boring parts of this drama. Obama is a true believer. He is doing what he says he will do. It just doesn't look like what we expected, so we deny that it is happening.
Listen carefully to what Obama says. He is telling us what is next. Review what Obama told "Joe the Plumber" about redistribution of income; it is happening through the Stimulus and TARP. Look at how Obama slammed "Healthcare Reform" through Congress, and is slamming "Financial Reform" through. Next, Obama wants to move on to "Cap & Trade" in the wake of the Deep Horizon Crisis in the Gulf of Mexico, and, now moving through the Senate, is a Bill to give the President powers shut down the free use of Internet during"National Emergencies." Don't assume that Mr. Obama and his crew will allow the Deep Horizon Crisis to be wasted as his "Waterloo." That is Republican wishful thinking.
As regards the last paragraph, I paraphrase Dirty Harry, "You got to ask your self one question, punk, did he fire six rounds or only five?" Well America, many rounds has he fired. Is the gun empty or still loaded. Don't sell Obama short. He ain't finished yet.
