Shall we live as free men and women, or shall we submit to the shackles of slavery?

A Modest Proposal for America

It is clear, to me at least, the our current Executive Branch head is decaying rapidly. Not only are his cognitive facilities in accelerating decline, but his physical health is also falling. There remains nearly a year and half yet to his reign, and there is a real question as to what condition he might be in at the end of that period. Add to that the recent disclosures regarding financial dealings, both current and past —activities that have enriched him and his family at the expense of the Country—and there are good reasons to seek his removal.

Congress, and in particular, the People's House of Representatives could simply declare the 2020 presidential election to be null and void

There is a complication, though, to straightforward Constitutional methods such as impeachment, or mental incapacitation. His removal alone would result in an arguably worse situation where the current vice president would assume the role of president. Given that the current holder of that office seems incapable of speaking in coherent sentences, she cannot be considered a viable replacement for the current inhabitant of the highest office.

This situation presents a dilemma for those who realize the current danger to the Nation of allowing the current denizen to remain, since the alternative is, in many respects, worse.

Fortunately, there is a solution.

While the Constitution provides two mechanisms for removal of incompetent or criminal officials, it does not preclude others, and in fact, includes a provision via the 10th Amendment for more creative responses. Congress, and in particular, the People's House of Representatives could simply declare the 2020 presidential election to be null and void. There is currently an ample and growing body of evidence indicating that the results of that election were improper, or at least indeterminate.

If that election were declared void, then Congress could remove both office holders at once. A president and vice president pro tempore could then be appointed to serve until the 2024 election which would establish new, legitimate, replacements. Should Congress fail to act, then the States themselves could act through the powers recognized in the 10th Amendment to the Constitution. Since the vice president has tie breaking power in the Senate, they would be prohibited from voting on a matter of their removal leaving a deadlock in that body.

Consider the costs of allowing the current situation to continue

Action would need to be swift, though, since there are many actors throughout the world, and even in our own country who would seek to take advantage of any chaos or instability that might result from a protracted period before resolution of the matter.

For those who think that it might be better to wait until normal electoral processes operate, they need to consider the costs of allowing the current situation to continue, and even grow worse. Exposure of increasing deterioration, as well as of illegal and even treasonous acts will prompt action by those who would suffer great loss were they lose access to the powers they rely on for protection.

We already know that, absent effective measures, our electoral systems are unreliable and vulnerable to manipulation. We can expect further efforts to "fortify" the provisions that facilitate such manipulation to the extent where the results of any future election cannot be trusted to accurately reflect the will of the populace, but rather instead reflect the choices of those who wish to remain in power.

A year and a half is more than ample time for those in power to build strong defenses against reform and to prevent the dismantling of supportive power structures. That is why swift and decisive action is necessary sooner rather than later.

Some will object that such Congressional action is without precedent. I would reply that there is a first time for everything, and at one point, everything we accept as commonplace today was without precedent. We have never had such a corrupt and deteriorating president before, either, nor such an obviously incompetent vice president at the same time.

I would suggest Donald Trump for President pro tem and RFK jr for Vice President

As for who should be appointed, I would suggest Donald Trump for President pro tem and RFK jr for Vice President, showing a true bipartisan spirit in addressing the dire situation confronting this Nation.

The advantages of such action would be huge. The Ukraine-Russia conflict would cease in 48 hours or less, and the combatants would be in mediated negotiations shortly thereafter. The current influx of illegal immigrants and drugs across our borders would be halted soon afterwards. We would take action to ensure ample energy supplies and energy independence, and would terminate the economy killing measures that support a climate fantasy.

We would restore our credibility on the global stage, and once again serve to deter military adventurism and territorial ambitions of opponents large and small. We could restore a legal system that dispensed justice rather than privilege. We could rebuild a military loyal to the Nation rather than to a destructive ideology.

Perhaps most importantly, we could implement measures that would ensure our elections are fair, honest, and accurate so that we can prevent repetition of the events of past elections that led to this current situation.

We want all legal voters able to vote freely, but only legal voters. We want elections that are transparent and trustworthy and untainted by any possibility of hidden actions through electronic means, through uncontrolled mass mail ballot systems, and improper changes to election processes and procedures. We want full, honest, and accurate information on relevant issues instead of censorship and propaganda.

Shall we live as free men and women, or shall we submit to the shackles of slavery?

Both Republicans and Democrats would benefit from taking action now. The only losers would be the extremists on both sides who are more concerned with ideology and power than with what is good for the Country. We can reaffirm that the proper role of government is to provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and to ensure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our descendants.

Shall we live as free men and women, or shall we submit to the shackles of slavery? That is not hyperbole or excessively dramatic rhetoric, but rather a very real and accurate statement of what confronts us. Shall we wait another year, and perhaps lose forever the chance to act, or shall we confront the danger before us and act to defeat it? Time is not standing still.

The question is an old one—to act or to wait, to suffer quietly or risk to end suffering? Shall we act now while peaceful resolution is still possible, or wait until only extreme and violent acts can deliver us?

How shall we choose?

Send this to your favorite congressman with your recommendation. Send it to friends and relatives. Now is not the time to sit on the sidelines and hope it all works out without you.
