Canadian government, not to mention immigration lawyers, will step up their efforts to entice and help Americans to move north of the border

Canada Immigration’s website crashed when it became obvious Trump would win

Canada Immigration’s website crashed around 10:30 p.m. ET last night. While no official explanation has been given for the crash, the logical inference is it was caused by too many Americans going to the site to look for a place to flee to after a Donald Trump victory. The outage occurred around the same time it became clear Trump was going to become the 45th president of the United States. While the ballots were still being counted, searches for “apply for Canadian citizenship” increased 500 percent. There were also dramatic increases in the search terms of “emigrate,” “moving to Canada,” and “move to Canada.”
While it is not surprising a lot of Americans are absolutely petrified of life under The Donald, it takes a certain kind of panic to begin to look for refuge while the votes are still being tabulated. It is more evidence of the proposition that liberalism really is a mental disorder. Then again, it is not overly surprising that in a country that must provide safe spaces for college students, there are people who have more fear of a Trump presidency than they do of radical Islamic terrorism. But last night was not the first inkling a lot of Americans were looking at Canada as place to escape the horrors of a Trump presidency. As reported in the Toronto Sun, Canada Immigration (renamed Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada by Justin Trudeau to show immigrants and refugees are more important than citizens) has noticed a large increase in Americans who have actually applied for permits to work in Canada. Americans who were actually issued work permits in 2016 rose 54 percent over the same time period in 2015. IRCC has not changed any of its policies during the last year, nor has the economy in either country dramatically changed since last year. The only factor that can account for this increase is the fact more Americans expressed the desire to leave the U.S. in case the improbable happened and Trump was elected president. Of course as everyone knows, Trump relegated Hillary Clinton to the dustbin of history where she belongs and he will be sworn in as the 45th president of the United States.

We are all familiar with celebrities who vowed to leave the United States, mostly for Canada, if Trump won. Of course many of these are the same people who dramatically announced they would flee the United States if George W. Bush became president. Bush won twice but it seems it was all talk and for some strange reason those celebs are still in the United States. But now ordinary Americans are actually taking steps to leave the country. A Toronto immigration lawyer said the increase in work permit applications began around the same time it looked like Trump would become the Republican nominee. Monster Worldwide, a website where people can go on line to look for jobs, confirms the findings of the Canadian government. According to Monster Worldwide, there was a 58 percent increase in the number of people who typed “Canada” as a search term during 2016 compared to the same time period last year. Many of these people might have been looking at what jobs are available in Canada simply out of curiosity but the findings are in line with the increase in the number of Americans who have actually applied to work in Canada. Unlike doing Internet searches it takes time and money to actually apply for a work permit. The Canadian government, not to mention immigration lawyers, will step up their efforts to entice and help Americans to move north of the border. This is just what this country needs; more politically correct lefties.
