Col Russell Williams had a long sordid history of sexual perversion that progressed from severe pornography addiction, to a fetish for women and children’s underwear, to rape and then murder. Canada’s soft, bleeding heart criminal code did not do justice for the two women he murdered and the numerous others he violated.

Dr. Charles McVety, President of the Institute for Canadian Values says “Canada’s criminal code offers just 14 day minimum prison sentences for child rape, 90 days for production of child pornography and 14 days for perverted acts against children. Canada must toughen its criminal code with 15 year mandatory minimum sentences without parole for child sex abusers.” Prime Minister Stephen Harper has the responsibility to fulfill his promise to introduce legislation offering tougher sentencing for child sex abusers. Opposition leader Michael Ignatieff must set aside political wrangling and partner with the government to protect our children who remain at risk.
