Deplorable Versus Dynasty

Once upon a time, there were the Ming, the Habsburg, the Carolingian, the Romanov, the Hohenzollern... you name it. No matter the continent or century the dynasties monopolized power "by the grace of God", even I if they obtained it by less noble means such as "by sword" or "by treason". The doctrine of "God's Mandate" adequately guaranteed impunity, regardless the royal antics. If nowadays politicians do not bother bringing up the divine factor, it's not for a lack of sycophantic flattery from court jesters of mainstream media; modern rulers are simply too hubristic to acknowledge the existence of a superior being--they are the grantors and the awardees of power.
The riders of the political carousel look all too familiar: ex-officeholders swapping seats over decades, their brothers and wives fighting to prolong the dynasty and hog the power again and again... Mocking Thomas Jefferson's "all men are created equal" political aristocrats have a claim to our money not only to finance their unacceptably lavish lifestyle, but also to gamble with a nation's security and country's territory, inviting their pets (foreign and domestic) to the "Casino America". The similarity to hereditary monarchy doesn't end on delusional sense of entitlement; the wannabe monarchs are clearly above the law. The mainstream media and federal agencies act as royal court, normalizing blatant abuse of power and trivializing the most revolting of crimes. The Clinton Dynasty brought lack of accountability to a whole new level and King Bill seemed to believe in "Lord's Right" allowing feudal lords to have sexual relations with "subordinate women". Just like medieval rulers, Bill Clinton is not interested in the lower class progeniture he might have sired and remains indifferent to a young" subject's" desperate plea for a DNA test.

In 1862 a French writer Victor Hugo published "Les Miserables" a harrowing tale of dehumanizing poverty. It is noteworthy that one of the main characters, an impoverished peasant was condemned for 19 years' imprisonment in the galleys for stealing bread for his starving family. Meanwhile the ruling class of his epoch enjoyed legendary feasts, overindulging in food and drink. In 2016, Hillary Clinton, the Democrat candidate for the American presidency came up with the term "the Deplorables" to describe the unruly voters, brazen enough not to back up the Clinton dynasty. It is meaningful that each and every of the underprivileged Joes she insulted would land in prison if he neglected his duty of paying taxes in order to feed his family. Meanwhile, dereliction of duty of the ruling class goes unpunished and billions of dollars are missing and unaccounted for... American government is supposed to humbly serve the country and the nation, not vice versa, but over the decades we've seen high level civil servants morphing into political aristocracy. The growingly arrogant upper class has been enabled by bi-partisan corruption of their court, reassured by existence of parallel dynasties on other continents and freed from the burden of accountability by end of the rule deals.

Lack of obligation of results generated hubris, contempt for people and values. Nonchalant, privilege-packed gluttons do not apply for a job; they run for an opportunity to abuse power. Even if wealthy, Donald Trump is still an outsider to the "golden circle", and belongs to the inferior class –he actually earned his salary, unlikely the "nobles" who do not lower themselves to work and extract money directly from our pockets. Despite personal attacks, the present establishment realizes that the contenders in the ongoing elections are not only Donald Trump versus Hillary Clinton but also The Deplorables versus Dynasty. As rightly observed by Marcus Aurelius: "Look back over the past, with its changing empires that rose and fell, and you can foresee the future, too."
