If establishment elites succeed in impeaching and removing President Trump, it will set a disastrous precedent for the nation. Whoever replaces Trump would be too intimidated to resist the steamrolling carnage of the “effete snobs.”

Deplorables Versus Effete Snobs

In the late 1960s, Vice President Spiro Agnew used the phrase “effete snobs” to characterize establishment elites who considered themselves so superior that others should kowtow to their demands and opinions. Agnew was roundly criticized for this unfavorable description of the self-anointed powers inside the Beltway. On the other hand, Hillary Clinton was not criticized when she sarcastically dismissed Trump supporters, those residents of America's heartland, as a “basket of deplorables.” Today, many of us believe “effete snobs” is an apt description of Washington insiders, and we also believe that those insiders concur with Mrs. Clinton's put down of heartland Americans.

With the solid support of news media and the entertainment field, elites think that they can reorder our society without the backing of the public

With the solid support of news media and the entertainment field, elites think that they can reorder our society without the backing of the public. Admittedly, they've had considerable success because there is a reluctance to criticize their efforts. Media intimidation has Americans cowering in fear and not speaking up. But over the years the public has lost respect for news media. Average Americans, Hillary Clinton's deplorables, are now standing up for their rights. Opinion polls indicate that almost 80% believe the country is headed in the wrong direction and changing the country's direction is so crucial that voters were willing to overlook Donald Trump's personal flaws and put him in the White House. The Left fears the Trump's presidency will impede their attempt to implement “social justice”, which essentially means the redistribution of wealth, opportunities, and privileges to make everyone “equal.” But past attempts to impose “equality” have been disastrous - many of us remember the failures of the 1960s communes. The Left claims that objections to a coerced equality are simply a desire to preserve “white supremacy.” White supremacy is the latest of numerous negative labels to slander members of the public who refuse to be manipulated. Any opposition to extreme measures of the civil rights movement is called racist; criticisms of the excesses of the women's movement are called sexist, and resistance to the extreme demands of the Gay rights movement are called homophobic. A majority believes we are losing our culture and identity and we are. This is not occurring naturally, but is being deliberately carried out by establishment elites. The elimination of our culture and identity has been made easier by the phenomenon known as “dumbing down.”

Dumbing down of our educational system

The dumbing down of our educational system has been going on for several decades, beginning in elementary schools and continuing through college years. Difficult subjects have been dropped, textbook narratives simplified, and grade requirements and academic proficiency standards drastically lowered. Colleges have not only lowered admission standards but also curriculum. Young adults produced by this educational system are now a significant part of our population and movies and television offered to the public are designed primarily for these young adults. Dumbing down came up in the Hollywood of the 1930s when executives sought to increase their studio's revenue with films that would attract more moviegoers. To reach a larger audience, studios decided to “ ...revise scripts so as to appeal to those of little education or intelligence.” This process repeated itself after the onset of television in the 1950s. It was originally predicted that television would raise the cultural level of society with programming that would include “high culture.” There would be broadcasts of classic plays, explorations of famous art works; operas, symphonic orchestra concerts, and other established artistic works. And for a while, this kind of entertainment was interspersed with programs designed for mass consumption. But corporations sponsoring programs wanted their commercials watched by a larger number of viewers. High culture soon gave way to pop culture. The quality of programming began to decline and over the years it has continued to deteriorate. Television that began with high hopes has degenerated from Beethoven to Beyoncé. This trend of a less informed public was made worse with the advent of political correctness, multiculturalism, and especially the emergence of younger television viewers. The age group 18 to 49 is the primary audience for pop culture television.

Current crusade to destroy the Trump presidency is conducted by a coalition of Leftist elites, news broadcasters, and celebrity entertainers

This callow audience props up comedy shows like those hosted by Stephen Colbert and Bill Maher. Civility and decorum has given way to crudity, coarseness, and smut with four-letter expletives and tasteless insults replacing the comedy routines of classic comedians of the past. Crass entertainers now pontificate about political and social events and their guileless audience actually lends credence to their opinions. The current crusade to destroy the Trump presidency is conducted by a coalition of Leftist elites, news broadcasters, and celebrity entertainers. The tactics of this coalition are not only deceitful but disregard any semblance of ethics and integrity. This is the second attempt to circumvent the selection made by the voters. Attempts to overturn election results with spurious claims of incorrect vote counts didn't stand up to scrutiny and recounts actually confirmed the correctness of original vote results. The public, and even some members of the establishment, are realizing that things have gone too far. Brakes must be applied to the decline in civility, the imprudent Social Justice movement, and movements to subvert the will of the voters and oust the president we elected. If establishment elites succeed in impeaching and removing President Trump, it will set a disastrous precedent for the nation. Whoever replaces Trump would be too intimidated to resist the steamrolling carnage of the “effete snobs.”
