A construction worker is dead, and two others are injured after a piece of a construction crane plummeted down on a busy bridge in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Thursday afternoon.
According to the Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue, first responders were called to the Southeast 3rd Avenue Bridge, which spans the New River, around 4:30 p.m. Thursday. ---More...
One dead and 2 injured after a crane fell on the bridge over the New River in downtown Fort Lauderdale.
The bridge also sustained significant damage as the crane appeared to leave a sizable hole.
The two vehicle drivers reportedly survived the accident however someone under the bridge was killed.
"The big crane was falling down, and it looked like when it hit the bridge, it broke in part," a witness told 7News.
"There is a portion of the crane near the construction site and the other one that hit the bridge bounced off the Tesla and then bounced up and hit the van."
