Christmas, Sirius Radio

Getting in the Mood

For Christmasophiles like Canada Free Press expat friends Kathy Mattson and Joe Pulvino in Panama, today’s a big day. The “everything Christmas” Kathy and Joe remind me that today’s the day that subscription satellite radio provider Sirius XM launches two of its five limited run holiday music channels.

Launching at noon hour today will be Holly, which features contemporary holiday music as well as traditional favourites, and Holiday Traditions which plays traditional holiday recordings from the `40s through the `60s by artists such as Bing Crosby, Andy Williams, Ray Conniff and Nat “King” Cole. Holly and Holiday Traditions run from November 15th until New Year’s Day. Holly can be found on Sirius channel 3 and XM Channel 23, while Holiday Traditions airs on Sirius and XM Channel 4. Other limited run channels from Sirius XM, which begin in December, include Holiday Pops, Country Christmas and Radio Hanukkah. Holiday Pops will broadcast carols sung by the greatest classical musicians of all-time, including the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Luciano Pavarotti, Boston Pops and Leontyne Price among others. Holiday Pops will air beginning December 1 and runs until the end of Christmas Day on Sirius Channel 79 and XM Channel 77. Country Christmas will feature a wide-ranging assortment of country Christmas music, including Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood and Kenny Rogers. Country Christmas will air beginning December 10th and runs until the end of Christmas Day on Sirius Channel 62 and XM Channel 10. Radio Hanukkah will broadcast a celebration showcasing Hanukkah music and Jewish culture. Radio Hanukkah will air from December 1st to December 9th on Sirius Channel 76 and XM Channel 28.

Sirius is the place to escape the `Progressives’ of the Airwaves

For people like me who keep a radio nearby during long hours of work, Sirius is the place to escape the `Progressives’ of the Airwaves. It was by leasing vehicles for U.S. trips that I first became aware of the magic and lure of Sirius. Hearing Christmas music floating from my Sirius radio reminds me that Christmas is there--and will always be there in spite of the overzealous agents of politically correct times. In addition to the best music anywhere without DJ interruptions, for CFP Sirius is a lifeline to the great Mark Levin Radio to whom we tune in every night via Channel 144, at 6 EST. In life, most novelties wear off, Sirius Radio never does.
