Gun Control: ‘Those were the days’

The last episode of the hit TV show All in the Family was made in 1979. If the show were being produced today, it would never see the light of day given its lack of political correctness and the use of such language as “queers” and “#”. It is surprising it is still allowed to surface in reruns. Yet, it was praised when it first aired in the early 70s as being the first show to deal with serious issues facing society. And when it comes to one of the issues the show dealt with, gun control, not much has changed in the last 40 plus years. An episode entitled “Archie and the Editorial” first aired in 1972. Archie was mad when he saw an editorial on TV about gun control so he asked and was given the chance to appear on television to give a rebuttal. In the rebuttal, he argued he could end armed hijackings tomorrow, a not infrequent occurrence in the early 70s. Archie said the airlines should give every passenger a pistol so no one would pull a gun out during the flight. Then the airline would collect the guns after the flight ended. This would also do away with checking passengers to see if they are armed. As Archie was famous for saying, “Case closed.”
The audience laughed while the Meathead simply shook his head in disgust. At one point in the episode, Archie’s daughter Gloria says, “Daddy, did you know that 60 percent of the people murdered in this country in the last 10 years were killed by guns?” Archie responds, “Would it make you feel any better, little girl, if they was pushed out of windows?” Little Gloria had no answer to that. But if you substitute “pushed out of windows” with “thrown from the top of buildings” today’s left have an answer. Resoundingly, they do not feel as bad when gays are thrown from the roofs of buildings, hanged from construction cranes or otherwise brutally murdered as they do when some law abiding American has a right to own a gun. The left always goes on and on about equality but they do not much care for individual rights. Anytime an individual wants to exercise a right, the left whine that’s unfair because some other individual cannot or will not exercise that right. So the progressives put everyone into groups and argue all those groups are equal. But the equality of groups is the big lie.

Up until recently, the left would have been abhorred by the notion men could go into washrooms and change rooms reserved for women and girls. Men are nothing more than predators and women and girls are perpetual victims. But now the rights of a man prevails and is welcome in these spaces previously reserved for females as long as, at the time the man enters, he self-identifies as a woman. The rights of transsexuals are more important than women’s rights. Just as LGBT rights trump the rights of women, one group trumps the rights of women, gays and all other groups. That group of course is the religion of (redacted). No one should be able to speak ill of (redacted) if they torture and/or kill women or gays because it is politically incorrect to ever criticize them. Honour killings, stonings, beheadings, hangings and otherwise killing women, girls and gays is something that should not be criticized and any criticism is written off as (redacted)phobia. This is the reason why, after 49 people were shot to death and another 53 wounded in Orlando, the focus is on guns and not on the fact the shooter did what he did in the name of (redacted). Progressives are focusing on gun control while trying hard to find the motive behind Omar Mateem’s actions at the Pulse nightclub. His motive of course can be anything except (redacted). The left is not concerned about those who lost their lives in Pulse; all they care about is their desire to disarm Americans and using the mass shooting as an excuse to further their political agenda.
