image“You know, I don’t think it’s a good idea.” The words uttered by Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) on New Hampshire’s WGIR-AM while campaigning on behalf of his father Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas). “Because people have been asking me for a couple years now if the Tea Party is going to stay within the Republican Party and I’d be been saying that the Tea Party has power and influence by primarily keeping Republicans and making them more consistent with their platform and their principles.

“But if the Tea Party branches off it will be a certain election for President Obama and there hasn’t been any evidence that third parties--look at Perot, which was the biggest movement we’ve had in recent years,” Paul added. (Real Clear Politics, Jan. 3, 2012) You can say that again, Mr. Paul. In fact, you can’t say it often enough for some. And you can follow through your words with action. It could be added that if your Father branches off to run as an Independent and provides a certain re-election for President Barack Obama, the first question small-c conservatives will barrage you with will be: “Why were you campaigning for your Father knowing this was a possibility?” There is more danger inherent in Congressman Ron Paul abandoning the Republican Party to run as an independent than the Tea Party branching off as a third party, because it’s far likely. American Patriots are already living under the threat of vote splitting through the actions of über political opportunist Donald Trump who’s already boosted himself onto the Texas ballot. Sincere America-loving Tea Party members want to stop Obama from gaining a second term. And no one should know better than Sen. Rand Paul that splitting the vote in this crucial election will never achieve that mission.
