Stewart decided to take up the issue of the Palin kids after the media erupted with disbelief after Bristol Palin advanced to the finals of Dancing With The Stars ahead of whom they considered to be a more talented dancer in singer Brandy Norwood. “It’s Bristol Palin! She’s not running for anything. said Stewart, "She’s not doing anything wrong. If you don’t like how far she’s going, don’t watch the show." Stewart went on to comment about Bristol's younger sister Willow who unwisely chose to use certain politically incorrect words on her Facebook page that were captured by TMZ.com and spread throughout the web. “Stop making me feel sympathy for the Palins!” Stewart shouted, “It’s a 16-year-old kid’s Facebook page!" “Kids are off-limits,” Stewart exclaimed, “As a matter of fact, we should all go out of our way to treat her children with kid gloves and respect to show that we don’t judge individuals and mock them purely based on who their parents are." Now I rarely if ever agree with Stewart and I also know that he pokes fun at everyone but normally takes great glee when a conservative is his target, but in this case he is right. Bristol can't control the fan votes but the media has made this out to be a deep dark conspiracy to make sure that she wins and even questioning if fans haven't rigged the system in her favor. This is from the same group of people that routinely ignore charges of voter fraud in liberal parts of the country and labels such accusations as being racist in nature. As Stewart would say, Who Cares? It's a reality show for crying out loud and when the season is over we will all move on. After all how many people can name all ten winners of the previous DWTS competitions and what difference does it make? When it comes to Willow's postings on Facebook while they were inappropriate it isn't like thousands of other teenagers haven't said the same thing at one time or another on the social media site. The difference is they aren't Willow Palin and they didn't get caught. If the press can behave with regard to the Obama girls then they should be able to give the Palin kids the same wide berth but that would mean that they would have to actually be unbiased which isn't in their DNA.
