Moral Equivalency: Does it Apply to the Situation Between Israel and Hamas?

First off, let's define what moral equivalency is: it is a term used to usually deny that a moral comparison can be made of two sides in a dispute (in this case a war).

With that definition in mind, many anti-Semites in the United States and countries of the world are blaming Israel for the war between Israel and Hamas, and claiming that it is all Israel's fault when really the opposite is true. It was Hamas who attacked Israel, not the other way around.

On October 7, Hamas attacked Israel, killing, butchering, maiming, and taking innocent hostages from inside Israeli territory. With over 1,400 Israeli citizens, and some foreigners included as murder victims, along with over 200 hostages taken, Israel responded by declaring war on the Hamas terrorists who reside in the Gaza Strip. As Israel goes about trying to annihilate the Hamas threat, they are being charged with genocide, no matter what the provocation was by the brutal, inhumane attack by Hamas. It seems that through “social media” (Tik Tok for one), and by various world organizations (the U.N.), this vile calumny against Israel has resulted in world-wide condemnation of Israel. It seems common sense and logic have been turned upside down.

For years, Israel has been subjected to attacks of missiles and acts of violence within the State of Israel by various Muslim groups, including Hamas, Hezbollah, and Islamic Jihad etc. Their response was to try to immobilize the sources of those attacks, with minimal results as the attacks continued, but after the barbaric attack by the Hamas thugs and murderers with their butchery of hundreds attending a Peace Concert, and the killing of innocent families in their homes near the Gaza border, the Israelis could not let that horrific episode go on without a response—hence the decision of Israel to declare war on Hamas, and their desire “to cut off the head of the snake”, Hamas leaders, and their marauding hordes of crazed killers.

Some of the world community have been brainwashed into thinking that Israel is a pariah state and is an occupying nation, contrary to all rational thinking, but most of the Western nations have come to the defense of Israel in trying to stop the brutality of Hamas and to point the finger at the major terror State of Iran, who has been supplying arms and munitions to their puppet groups of Hamas and Hezbollah. In our country, many rallies have been attended by Muslim citizens, far-left lunatics, and with many misled young people who attend schools, colleges, and universities, in denouncing Israel. Some of these protests have turned violent and many Jewish citizens fear for their safety, especially at some colleges and universities.

The Biden Administration, has lukewarmly supported Israel, but have been supporting a cease fire (calling it a pause), but the Israelis have rejected it, and rightly so. President Biden projects, from his words and actions, weakness and the enemies of Israel seem to be taking advantage of that. Israel says that they must annihilate Hamas so future atrocities can be minimized or done away with, so any shutdown will only let Hamas to rearm and regroup.

The fear that this conflict could lead into a major war in the Middle East is a real possibility, mainly due to the participation of that evil regime in Iran who has called for the elimination of both Israel and the United States. The chants by the pro-Hamas demonstrators of “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” is a call to wipe Israel off the map and to humiliate the United States, the major backer of the State of Israel.

So, when you hear the term “moral equivalency” directed at Israel as they try to defend their country and their population, it shows the lack of moral enlightenment that the anti-Semites project as they spew their venom against the only real democracy in the Middle East. Unfortunately, collateral damage to civilians during times of war are inevitable, but Israel, to its credit, has warned residents caught in the line of fire in Gaza to go south to avoid being caught in the crossfire, which the Hamas leaders have, in many cases, turned back civilians from leaving Gaza City so they can be used a shields for the purpose of showing dead civilians killed by the ruthless Israelis. A total fabrication and a definite war crime by Hamas. There can be no moral equivalency when dealing with terrorists so we should let Israel do what it has to do to survive with God's speed.
