Ever since 9-11 many of us have had the thought of another large-scale terror attack taking place somewhere is the country. It isn’t a fear, just a thought in the back of our minds that it could happen, and let’s be honest, with the way our country is being run now, the odds have increased.
Recently, Ohio’s Butler County Sheriff, Richard Jones, has voiced concerns over that very possibility. In fact, according to Jones “It’s not if they are going to attack, it’s just when they are.”
According to Journal-News, between February 3-6 Jones attended the National Sheriff’s Association Conference in Washington, D.C. At the conference, FBI officials warned sheriffs across the country about imminent terror attacks on the nation.
Hearing this, Jones returned home determined to get his department prepared. He related that, “There are people already here who have come to this country who hate us and want to kill us.” The sheriffs were educated on the fact cyberattacks could be used to cripple power grids causing train derailments and other disasters. Cells of terrorists could even target multiple areas of the country. They were also updated on the reality that terrorists are bringing an increased level of sophistication to their attacks.
Jones stated that the sheriff’s office is “getting five cyber hack attempts a day by the Chinese, three times a day by the Iranians, and we got hacked two years ago by the Russians, And that is not just us. I assume they are doing that all over the country.”
I have heard about the hacking problem many times before. Although, I had no idea that the issue was this severe. If Jones’ department is receiving attacks on this scale, imagine what very large cities are dealing with. Jones said that the FBI advised them that dangerous individuals have entered our country with one intention, “to do harm to us … that they have never seen it this bad.” He added that the disrupters number in the thousands and that elections, both national and local, are among their targets.
“They told us we need to be prepared to talk to local county election people to be prepared. They want us to lose faith in our government.” Personally, I think our own government has done a pretty good job of that on their own, but the point is well taken. No country, including China, cannot be allowed to influence or manipulate our elections in any way, shape or form.
Jones is calling on Ohio Lawmakers to pass legislation that allows felony charges to be filed against Illegal Aliens. WXIX reported that the measures the sheriff is seeking are similar to those in Texas.
Jones is also striving for a state cybersecurity czar to protect government organizations from being hacked by radicals. Also, because of the influx of drugs and weapons coming into America through the Canadian border, he believes there is a need for a task force to secure Ohio’s northern border.

Jones took all of the information he received to heart and is acting on it. All of the department’s cruisers will be equipped with AR-15s and extra ammo. Hazmat training will also be expanded.
In order to alert the public of the dangers, Jones announced that a training class for citizens will be held in May, according to the Journal. The course is titled, “When Disaster Strikes: Prepare, Act, Survive.” It teaches citizens in the community to prepare for disaster, survive it and, when necessary, participate in search and rescue operations after a natural disaster or terrorist attack.
Jones is now a believer that these attacks are imminent. If you are concerned, contact your local and state officials and inquire if “When Disaster Stikes,” or similar training is available.
I know it’s tough to even think about training like this being necessary. However, with illegals literally pouring into our country, many of whom have no intention of assimilating into our culture, preparedness has become a reality.
