State of Fear; the elites mechanism for gaining and keeping control

Out of Season

I used to tease Global Warming Alarmists with calls for a nuclear war; a small nuclear exchange between, say, India and Pakistan would give us all the global cooling we could want. Turns out that the crazy computer gamers have actually suggested I'm right.

According to the article in Scientific American (a notorious Global Warming alarmist publication): "Earth is currently in a long-term warming trend. After a regional nuclear war, though, average global temperatures would drop by 2.25 degrees F (1.25 degrees C) for two to three years afterward, the models suggest." Now, this would be a GOOD thing, would it not? We have been told that a warming world is bad, so a little cooling would be just the ticket, would it not? According to the article:
"Examples similar to the crop failures and famines experienced following the Mount Tambora eruption in 1815 could be widespread and last several years," he added. That Indonesian volcano ushered in "the year without summer," a time of famines and unrest. (See pictures of the Mount Tambora eruption.) All these changes would also alter circulation patterns in the tropical atmosphere, reducing precipitation by 10 percent globally for one to four years, the scientists said. Even after seven years, global average precipitation would be 5 percent lower than it was before the conflict, according to the model. In addition, researcher Michael Mills, of the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Colorado, found large decreases in the protective ozone layer, leading to much more ultraviolet radiation reaching Earth's surface and harming the environment and people."
So, we will have the same problems either way; too cold we will have famine and drought, too warm we will have famine and drought.Just right... The point is, there was never any real evidence for Nuclear Winter except the computer models created by Carl Sagan and his liberal friends, and there is no real evidence for Anthropogenic Global Warming now except for similar computer models. As Princeton physicist Freeman Dyson pointed out in his book "Infinite in All Directions":
"...As a scientist, I judge the nuclear winter theory to be sloppy piece of work, full of gaps and and unjustified assumptions. As a human being, I hope fervently that it is right... since I am a scientist dedicated to truth, I will criticize nuclear winter theory as harshly as I would criticize any other half-baked scientific theory."
And nuclear winter was discredited within a few years after it made it's debut. It came roaring back in the fog of computer modeling in 2006 with the publication of new studies by the American Geophysical Union and others, including some of the authors of the original study who claim...drumroll please...that a nuclear war will destroy the ozone! They all assume black carbon rising to blot the sun across the globe, ignoring what happens in any major forest fire (it doesn't do that). Here is a good rundown of the entire farce from it's inception. So, we have the return of nuclear winter, based on the same flawed computer models that have failed to predict current climate conditions using past data. We have the return of Keynesians economics, the return of socialism, the return of an energy crisis, solar panels, wind power, the beginnings of stagflation. a nuclear arms treaty with the Soviets, er, Russians, the return of the railroads, etc. Welcome to retro-America, where everything old is new again! The question must be asked; why is this such a pressing topic now? Clearly, with the ascendancy of the Democrats, there is a desire to expunge the last vestiges of the Reagan revolution, and to fulfill the course set by Progressives decades ago. An international enforcing body for nuclear disarmament was a keystone of the liberal program, and it still could serve a useful purpose, hamstringing the U.S. and creating a sense that the world has a desperate interest in intervening in the self-defense efforts of nations. If people can be tricked into believing that the race of Man is dangling by a thread, they can be led to accept all manner of draconian actions by the self-styled wise men pimping a New World Order. It's part of what Michael Crichton called the State of Fear; the elites mechanism for gaining and keeping control. At any rate, we should be thankful that Disco and polyester have yet to make their return! (Hat tip to Dana Mathewson.)
