PUBNICO-N.S: Many sad eyes in this tiny Acadian fishing village, including CFP’s, forlornly kept watch at their windows during yesterday’s massive snow storm. All of us who were aware of a dog gone missing, hoping and praying that missing Golden Doodle,Theo would somehow make it through the nasty winter blizzard.

We turned in for the night worried and praying for the missing Theo, having gone out numerous times on Monday night and Tuesday, hoping to spot the 5-year-old missing pet somewhere along the lonely rural roads where he was last spotted.

Theo was most every day at Speedy Auto Glass with his owner Andrew Porter, where there were sightings, so it was there that we hoped to spot him.

During the height of last night’s blizzard, the windows in our ‘House by the sea’, like all those in other houses, were snowed over, making it impossible to see outside. At bed time outside howling winds seemed to cry out, “Theo…Theo”, or at least that’s the way it seemed to us.

By sunrise this morning, the Almighty’s glorious sun came out, shining over sea and snow. The worst was over, and as of this writing, there were no power outages in our immediate area.

We turned to the Internet still hoping for good news about Theo, and found the following:

LOST DOG: *THEO*
NS-335 #1 near Speedy auto glass.
Pubnico,NS/ Yarmouth county
MALE: 5 year old , Golden Doodle not wearing a collar.
Please DO NOT approach, very friendly but extremely scared.
If seen contact Marlo 1 (902) 746-0976 asap, note direction he is heading but please do not post location on social media, just call.”

“ HELP US FIND THEO! It will soon be daylight, people outside shovelling their steps and driveways, take a look around for paw prints, peek under your decks, in your sheds and anywhere a dog could hide! If you see anything please contact me 902-746-0976. Do not approach him or holler at him. Please keep your dogs inside if you happen to spot Theo, another dog could be felt as a threat! PLEASE SHARE!

Theo had bolted from the Green Grove area home of his “babysitters”, likely looking for his beloved owners Andrew and Jenna Porter taking a winter break in Florida.

The couple have been desperately trying to make it back home ever since being told that Theo had gone missing.

“Maybe Taylor Swift can pick me and Jenna up. We are stuck here, no flights direct home for 2 days,” Andrew posted on their Facebook page.

For Brian and me, it was more than heartening to see, the many drivers and walkers out looking for Theo in the snow—even after dark, some of them trying to reassure us that the adorable Golden Doodle would be found safe and sound.

Please Eternal Father, hear our heartfelt prayers, and send Theo home!

Update: How Theo Came Home

As we sit here with our boy Theo resting on the couch we think back at that roller coaster ride Jenna and I were on. Being so far away we felt so helpless and devastated thinking about Theo being out all night lost in the woods!! We had no idea who would help Pat and Marlo find our Theo! Well this community did NOT disappoint!!

From the calls to the messages from family and friends saying how many people were in our corner. This community is unbelievable to say the least. At times for us sitting in our room unable to do anything we would get a little message saying they have never seen so many people taking time from work and kids after school looking for Theo!

Every day we would get a little hope from someone saying they seen him but couldn’t catch the little bugger. “ he's definitely the best hide-and-seek dog to play the game” This being said we truly are thankful for everyone who came in support in the process to find Theo!!

Everyone has been asking how we ended up catching Theo and this is his story.

Jenna and I flew back to Halifax and rushed to Pat and Marlos to make a plan late Wednesday night, so we went outside for about 5 minutes and they were telling us the story on what he was doing before he ran off in the woods.

We packed up left their house to go get ready at speedy, few of us were going to walk down the road and Pat and Marlo decided to drive back down by their house. So we took off and they went there way all of a sudden Marlo calls Jenna and says “Theo is standing on the front steps get here NOW!”

We rushed back Jenna in front of me walked in the driveway and there he was standing on the step waiting to get in the house like they just let him out for a pee. Jenna calls his name he turns and looks at her and ran right towards her, stopped for a second and walked right to her like nothing happened.

After that there was cheering then tears then laughs and hugs as we carried him in the house! Long story short he just wanted his mom!!! We brought him to the vet that night the vet give him a check he is just tired and little sore so few days he will be back to normal. He is now next to Jenna and will not leave her side and neither will she!!
