Senator Lee tells WH to stay in its own backyard

When the all-encompassing Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) regulation was first proposed in 2013, we addressed this inherent enslavement of every American to federal authority. Does the term “enslavement” hit a raw nerve… good. The article, 21st century Slavery – HUD vs MLK, took the issue of a federal agency dispensing zoning directives for neighborhoods, your neighborhood, to the crux of the problem – the creation of a new federal plantation.
“Who is it that makes plans, telling others where they should live, handing them instructions of where to move and how to build their habitation? Plantation owners, overlords, that's who. And who, pray tell, is commanding the American people of every color, ethnicity, creed and economic status to reconstruct communities according to their own ideas of fairness and correct integration quotas? The new slave owners, otherwise known as government, whose administrative bureaucrats represent the Executive Branch.”1
Senator Mike Lee, joined by Marco Rubio, Tom Cotton, Jeff Sessions and David Vitter, is sponsoring an amendment that would defund what is, in Lee’s own words, essentially a national zoning board. What is certain is that the administration has been trampling on state’s rights by issuing a decree on who uses what bathroom, and, now, counties by undermining their self-determination. All of it is achieved through the one thing, the only thing that federal agencies have to offer: funds. Just as serfs and slaves were beholden to the landowners as the dispensers of necessities of life, modern day local public agencies (from schools to economic development boards) have become accustomed to operating off of federal grant money. This is the dangling worm that caught the fish, and trying to remove the hook is almost impossible without considerable pain. Worse than this is the endemic discrimination with which these agency overseers have infected the communities. Whether it’s separating fractional minorities of transgenders or ethnic and economic groups, regulations like the AFFH breed divisiveness.
This is the new rising of the ugly head of racism, not just to factionalize the singular American people but to create more subcultures and ethnic divisions than ever existed before. Why? To create a divided populace that would rather scratch out each others' eyes, use brutalizing epithets on others and even themselves (disguised as “endearments”), all in an effort to debase the self-worth of every individual at the expense of their neighbor. All this engenders is a culture of blame and dependence, where expectation is raised for someone else – the demonized wealthy and white – to “share” with the poor who are supposedly more deserving of the wealth than those who scrimped and labored to create it. And we have applied the term “poor” so loosely that, in this nation, the category includes individuals who incessantly text and tweet on smart phones and iPads, drive a current model car and camp out in front of an HDTV playing Wii and Xbox. I certainly can't be the only one who has traveled to devastatingly poor countries and walked among open sewers and cardboard “houses.” Talk about using a term loosely. These are nothing more than collapsible hovels.

“… Government can't regulate “fair” housing, forcing people to move from one place to another in order to make a community more integrated. Recall the failed busing of the 1970s. The only thing it did was haul kids out of bed at a ridiculous hour to tote them miles from home. This builds community? No, it polarized students, families and communities. “…Restructuring housing options by removing personal choice in order to purportedly serve the greater good is nothing more than bondage. But then, some people are perfectly content to be told what to do if it comes in the guise of receiving something for nothing, which is an illusion... nothing is free. This one statement in the Affirmative Furthering Fair Housing heading III. Summary of the Proposed Rule clarifies what's expected: “Paragraph (d) provides the content of the AFH that a program participant must submit to HUD.” The resultant slavery of accepting what you're given without a choice is real.”2
AFFH is one of the diseases that can only be cured by refusing government “medicine.” Homegrown remedies are always best in dealing with regional problems and if it means turning down bloc grants that offer a small portion of what a community budgets, then why would counties, municipalities and states allow themselves to be chained to stifling regs just to receive insufficient funds? Support is essential for congressional leaders who will tell Washington regulators to stay in their own backyard. But we have to make sure we send the same message from our yards and post ‘no trespassing’ signs in big, bold letters.
