Call it what you will, but Marxism, socialism, communism, and totalitarianism are all cast from the same mold. Redistribution of wealth was not the mission of Jesus, but the Left would have you believe that Christ’s main reason for putting on flesh and going to the cross was to eradicate free enterprise. Liberals believe that the “captives” He came to set free were the victims of capitalism and greed. This is the new Gospel that is being preached from many pulpits and echoed by politicians who have created God in their own image. There is an abuse of the Bible in today’s political landscape that literally blows unholy smoke. Whenever so called Christians on the Left refer to “God’s Word” it is usually taken out of context or simply misquoted to underscore a precept of a socialism. We all have heard politicians use this tactic-- but increasingly it has been coming from the liberal clergy in America who use select text to justify just about anything that is sinful to make it appear acceptable. Politicians who are true Christians could never vote for or sponsor legislation that provides for the federal funding of abortion. Any Senator or Representative who supports such a bill or part of a bill that increases the culture of death and the disregard for the sanctity of life is not a real Christian. Any clergyman who supports such a politician follows a false god.

Some will say you can’t mix political decisions with faith. But the truth is you cannot separate the two. How a person views the laws of the land shows the core of his or her being. And simply stating “What Jesus Would Do” is to misunderstand His purpose for living and dying. But leftist politicians are quick to remake Jesus into their image of what God should be and to appear to have His best interests at heart. Can you blame them? The same unholy “makeover” has been festering in American seminaries and theological universities for decades. While our president gets his theology on his Blackberry from socialist preacher Jim Wallis, millions of Christians are being subjected to watered down doctrine and a mamby pamby Jesus who died not for the sins of the world but for the political expediency of hope and change.
