The Merrill Police Department is investigating whether a woman committed a crime when she destroyed a petition last week at a rally to recall (Democrat) State Sen. Jim Holperin. A female pro-union protester pretended to be interested in signing a petition, wrote a profanity across a partially completed petition form, and ripped up completed petitions, Recall Jim Holperin Committee leader Kim Simac said.
