Should Joe Have Apologized?

Barack Hussein Obama continued his practice of lying to the American people. His topic was the gasping healthcare reform bill HR3200. Obama made a number of assertions that quite frankly were out and out lies; outrageous lies if you are one of the many Republicans who have read the bill. Not so outrageous if you are a Democrat who hasn’t even bothered to crack the cover.

Joe Wilson, Republican Congressman from South Carolina called Obama a liar. Mr. Wilson has been forced to apologize for having the bad grace to speak the truth in the hall of Congress. Pelosi’s face and the utter shock she expressed when he spoke out said it all. The media is not going to be kind and will probably treat him worse than what was done to Joe the Plumber. What is interesting about this is the continual inequity of reporting. You see, Harry Reid expounded on his feelings about President Bush the Second more than once and refused to apologize. GW may have been inept, but the office still deserves a modicum of respect. What we have is even worse. Obama is not inept and he knows exactly the damage he is doing. Wilson was right. The President was delivering a pack of lies. Let’s explore his work of fiction. Obama began his speech by relating two obvious examples of insurance company greed. What was done to these policyholders was criminal and if the judicial branch of our government had any integrity at all the heads of these companies would be rolling, but you don’t use major surgery to fix what amounts to a scratch. Here is one of Obama’s lies:
“nothing in our plan requires you to change what you have.“
Oh really? There is not a single line in HR3200 and all of it’s versions that details what your deductible will be, what your benefits or coverage will entail. Most people, if given the option, take the time to check those features when that discussion comes up at work. If you are self employed or an employer, you can guarantee those details are discussed. So why not in Obamacare? Lie number 1. Near the end of the healthcare bill are provisions for additional taxing authority against those individuals and organizations foolish enough to try to avoid the public option. If we split hairs, Obama may be technically correct in saying that you can keep what you have, but he refuses to say how expensive Uncle Sugar will make it if you do. Lie number 1b.
“What this plan will do is to make the insurance you have work better for you.”
How will your insurance company work better if it is too expensive to stay in business? Will an amendment be offered making it illegal to shut down, or is HR3200 designed to remove any competition for the public option? Lie number 2.
“a new insurance exchange - a marketplace where individuals and small businesses will be able to shop for health insurance at competitive prices”
This is actually a god idea…if it wasn’t for all the extremely expensive government oversight regulating what a company is allowed to earn, and the additional taxes applied to those who choose to have private insurance. That is the problem with socialists and communist sympathizers, they cannot believe that a truly free market can and does work better than any other system there is. Lie number 3.
“That's why under my plan, individuals will be required to carry basic health insurance - just as most states require you to carry auto insurance.”
The only truthful statement in the entire speech. Under Obamacare, the government will be given the power to toss out civil rights and move into being the nanny every liberal wants.
“There are also those who claim that our reform effort will insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false - the reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally.”
Ummm, sorry. This is also a lie. There are specific provisions for the indigent and illegal within HR3200, Pelosi insisted on them. No liberal Democrat is going to toss away millions of potential fraudulent votes, especially if those “voters” are too ignorant to know they are being used. Lie number 4.
“under our plan, no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions, and federal conscience laws will remain in place.”
Another lie. HR3200 actually increases government power to pay for abortion…with little if any of the current restrictions concerning late term pregnancies. Did you think that Obama, the candidate who equated the birth of a baby to a form of punishment was going to allow any thing else? Lie number 5.
“My guiding principle is, and always has been, that consumers do better when there is choice and competition.”
Oh pleeeeese. This phrase came from the same lips that called corporations greedy. The same person who sat at the feet of Bill Ayers, who actually had his children babysat by Rashid Khalidi — the former spokesman for Yasser Arafat? HR3200 is designed to stamp out competition leaving only the public option. Lie number 6.
“Now, I have no interest in putting insurance companies out of business.”
Lie number 7. Nothing else needs to be said here.
“And they'd be right if taxpayers were subsidizing this public insurance option. But they won't be.”
Does anyone, including those deep within the Democrat power structure, actually believe this? When has one single item within the government budget not been subsidized by taxes? When has a single liberal not expressed the desire to see the tax rate go even higher? HR3200 contains provisions to do just that if and when the American public has the effrontery to try to exercise self reliance. Lie number 8.
“It's worth noting that a strong majority of Americans still favor a public insurance option of the sort I've proposed tonight.”
Obama is again splitting hairs. A variety of polls asked if the voters would support a public option to compete against private insurance, and here is the kicker, if they did not have to pay for it. That is why Obama can say, “of the sort I proposed tonight”. He is basing his assertion on the public believing a lie. Lie number 9.
“And to my Republican friends, I say that rather than making wild claims about a government takeover of health care…”
What Republican friends? “Wild claims” is the typical Dem talking point. We Republicans read the blinkin’ bill! Have you?
“First, I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits - either now or in the future. Period.”
Didn’t he just blithely add another 2 trillion dollars to the deficit? Of course he did that without signing a plan, he just did it unilaterally. Sigh…lie number 10.
“And to prove that I'm serious, there will be a provision in this plan that requires us to come forward with more spending cuts if the savings we promised don't materialize.”
Yes, and the Easter Bunny will bring the savings to us wrapped up in a bow. Obama/Spending Cuts…what’s wrong with this picture? What was that so-called stimulus package? National thrift? Lie number 11.
“That is why not a dollar of the Medicare trust fund will be used to pay for this plan.”
Hmm, Obama is contradicting Senator Bob Corker (R., TN): They're "taking Medicare savings and using it to leverage a whole new entitlement . . . It's like a Ponzi scheme." Lie number 12.
“I will protect Medicare.”
The typical liberal tactic, tell the seniors you’ll protect them and he’ll follow you anywhere, including a cliff. Lie number 13.
“Finally, many in this chamber - particularly on the Republican side of the aisle - have long insisted that reforming our medical malpractice laws can help bring down the cost of health care.”
A truth, but Obama goes on to discount that idea and shift the blame toward Doctors. Do you really think an ultra-liberal Democrat is going to go against the Trial Attorneys? He followed this with what we all expected, the Win One For Ted gambit. This is because Americans are at heart a compassionate people, but if this wins our compassion will have killed our republic. Obama called the death panels laughable. Not so laughable for the Senate. You can credit men like Corker with going to the trouble and reading the bill. The liberals in the Senate did not like it, but the senate version pulled that provision because the end of life counseling bit was so badly written it would have allowed the creation of extra-governmental “death panels”. He also stated that if we do not give him what he wants, complete and absolute control of the American healthcare system, and immediately, people would die. This is similar to John Edward’s outrageous statement at a rally in Newton, Iowa: "If we do the work that we can do in this country, the work that we will do when John Kerry is president, people like Christopher Reeve are going to walk, get up out of that wheelchair and walk again." As one commentator said about that, “In my 25 years in Washington, I have never seen a more loathsome display of demagoguery. Hope is good. False hope is bad. Deliberately, for personal gain, raising false hope in the catastrophically afflicted is despicable.” Obama is using the tactic of false hope while desperately attempting to disguise the false portion as Presidential sincerity. Not once in his entire political career, including as a “community organizer” has Obama ever been cordial toward self reliance or personal responsibility. He has praised those who, in the past declared their hatred of the American way of life. He has regularly contradicted past statements of his own, deriding those who question his veracity by using derogatory terms. “Fear-mongers” is the term used against those of us who question the ability of HR3200 to turn the US into a paradise where no sickness will ever occur again. Based on Obama’s speech, conservatives are not the ones marketing fear here. You go, Joe Wilson. Too bad the rest of your caucus doesn’t have your backbone.
