Twenty two years ago this past June, Ronald Reagan, one of America’s greatest and most country-loving presidents stood at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, Germany and called out to Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev to “Tear down this wall!” challenging him to destroy the Berlin Wall, the barrier that separated Allied and Soviet controlled sections of Berlin, Germany to allow freedom to spread to the Eastern Soviet controlled sector.
Today, in a twist to that famous and very effective command, a majority of the people of the United States are standing as one to call out to our current ineffective leader in Washington, DC to put up the 700 miles of double-layer security fence that was mandated by Congress in an Act in 2006.
According to the Government Accountability Office (GAO), only 32 miles of the called-for 700 by the Congress in 2006 has been erected by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This is in direct defiance of the will of the majority of United States citizens and blame lies directly with Presidents Bush and Obama and the current Secretary of DHS, Janet Napolitano all of whom favored open borders, free entry for illegal aliens and amnesty for those that are already within our borders.
Considering the will of the majority of PEOPLE, who ARE the United States of America, and an accompanying Congressional mandate, these acts of malfeasance seem to be flirting with a treasonous betrayal of trust with the people. If we can’t trust TWO Presidents and their principal and pertinent Cabinet secretaries to enforce the mandates of the PEOPLE, who in the hell can we trust? No wonder there is constant talk about revolutions and people seizing control of our government.
In an amazing example of brazen arrogance in purposely disregarding the PEOPLE the DHS openly admits that 90 percent of all United States borders are wide open which puts Americans at risk, as reported by Dave Gibson on the Norfolk Crime Examiner on October 21, 2009 provided by “peri.mcmillan@dslextreme.com”; further adding “that only 894 miles of this country’s 8,607 miles of America’s land borders, are actually being protected.” Gibson adds that the “announcement came in the agency’s 2009 Performance Report.”
To me, that information alone is more than enough reason to think of impeachment proceedings and dismissal of the DHS Secretary. The current batch of anti-American liberals serving as Senators and Representatives in our Congress have been foaming at the mouth in anticipation of conducting impeachment proceedings against President Bush for unspecified reasons; but the failure to provide adequate security and protection for all of our country’s legal citizens should be reason enough for both Administrations.
I have to agree with Gibson’s assessment of Bush’s plan to send 6,000 troops to the Mexican border as being “woefully inadequate and laughable at best” in that 6,000 troops to cover 2,000 miles of border would average 3 troopers per mile; not a very convincing security blanket for our territories. But then, again as Gibson states, “there never were more than a few hundred National Guardsmen deployed at the border at one time, and all of them operated under laughable rules of engagement, unable to actually apprehend anyone coming across the border.”
But where Gibson wrote a more one-sided indictment against the Bush Administration, citing mainly situations where they were guilty of failing to provide security, the Obama Administration has carried on the “do nothing” process and has ignored the border security question as if it were a personal plague to be deposited on he alone, refusing to use our National Guard to secure our own border.
Obama’s primary interests are not with America and its border safety and security, it is with the foreign countries that wish to send their misfits, criminals and malcontents to America and have them return all the dollars they succeed in acquiring regardless of manner, back to the originating country. This disregard for the ultimate safety and security of our people and our borders will be continued by Obama according to CNS News.com and Terence P. Jeffrey who reports that the DHS “is planning to move several hundred Border Patrol agents away from the U.S.-Mexican border and will not secure a single additional mile of the U. S. border in fiscal 2010, according to the department’s annual performance report.”
So it looks like business as usual with Obama in the months ahead, or more realistically, NO business as usual. Continuing his policy of not protecting out borders fits right into his plans to allow more and more illegal aliens, including the very distinct possibility of Middle Eastern terrorists which aids and abets his grand plan of surrendering the United States to the United Nations of which he would become its grand poobah or ruler.
Now, more than ever, this nation must take actions in 2010 to rid our Congress of the liberal Democrats and RINO Republicans from their elected offices. Only by electing conservatives sworn to uphold our Constitution, not only during their swearing in ceremony but even while on the campaign trail; and those who will support an amendment change to the Constitution to enact legislation for strict term limits.
Unfettered terms without limits lead to power grabs for the slickmeisters among the lawmakers. The current situation where both houses of Congress and the executive presidential administration are all of the same political party makes such forays into the world of greed and power happen with greater ease leading to negative situations for the country as a whole.
"Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely” and “Unlimited power is apt to corrupt the minds of those who possess it” are adages coined by ancient English statesmen to warn of the dangers of power. However, as the second example offers, it is very often so mind-numbing that it is not recognizable to the holder. That definitely appears to be the case of our current White House occupant.
The porous borders benefit this power corrupted individual by providing more votes to support his treasonous desires and if needed, more soldiers of the same theological mindset.
He must be stopped; first in 2010 with removal of his power base, then, if necessary, in 2012.
Gerald A. “Jerry” McConnell, 92, of Hampton, died Sunday, February 19, 2017, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, Mass., surrounded by his loved ones. He was born May 27, 1924 in Altoona, Pa., the fifth son of the late John E. and Grace (Fletcher) McConnell.
Jerry served ten years with the US Marine Corps and participated in the landing against Japanese Army on Guadalcanal and another ten years with the US Air Force. After moving to Hampton in 1957 he started his community activities serving in many capacities.
He shared 72 years of marriage with his wife Betty P. (Hamilton) McConnell. In addition to his wife, family members include nieces and nephews.
