In the midst of the love fest press conference held by Attorney General Eric Holder and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to pat each other on the back and garner accolades from the press after the capture of Islamic terrorist Faisal Shahzad for the attempted car bombing in Times Square, three important questions were never asked – but absolutely demand answers.
- How did an Islamic terrorist successfully plant a car bomb in the middle of the most high profile city in America - during peak social and tourist hours?
- How did an Islamic terrorist leave the scene undetected?
- How did that same Islamic terrorist come within an airport runway of leaving the country?
In the same city that was attacked by Islamic terrorists on 9/11/2001, Islamic terrorists came calling again.
In what you would call an “in your face” move, the Islamic terrorists returned to New York City for an encore performance. Only this time, instead of flying, they took to the streets and drove a weapon of mass destruction smack dab into the middle of the most photographed, camera monitored, and populated iconic area of the city – Times Square.
It is important to understand that New York City was not a target pulled out of a hat – this was a deliberate exercise in boldness and defiance by Islamic terrorists against everything that America stands for – resilience and freedom.
What crumbled this time was any sense of security
Instead of any towers being toppled in New York City, what crumbled this time was any sense of security that had been restored in America since that fateful day in September 2001.
Today, every person who walks in Times Square – or any city street in America for that matter, feels somewhat vulnerable and violated – and rightly so. New Yorkers along with every other American may not show their concern, but it’s there – deep down inside.
As the pieces of this attempted terrorist bombing are put together in the coming days, weeks and months, it will become apparent that this was not just an attempted bombing, it was a test by Islamic terrorists of America’s vulnerability and security. It’s obvious that the Islamic terrorists were more concerned about planting the bomb and gathering intelligence from Shahzad, than actually getting the bomb detonated.
Doesn’t it seem odd that Shahzad was trying to get back to Pakistan, instead of staying with the bomb and making sure it detonated?
If we have learned anything since 9/11/2001, it’s that an Islamic terrorist intent on blowing something up will stick around and make damn sure the job gets done – or die trying.
Unfortunately, in this case, for the citizens of this country, every federal, state and local terrorist safeguard failed miserably – and no one is talking about that. In spite of the fact that the terrorists just proved that our city streets may be no safer today then they were before the terrorist attacks on 9/11/2001.
Fact: An Islamic terrorist bomb was just successfully planted in New York City!
The Islamic terrorists got most of what they needed from this test. The rest they can get by watching our 24/7 news cycles for all the “confidential” leaked information regarding the attempted bombing and exactly how it was carried out.
Had it not been for his botched attempt at building a functional bomb and covering his tracks more carefully, Faisal Shahzad would probably be in Pakistan right now being debriefed by his terrorist buddies and later home with his wife and kids watching the aftermath on television and praising Allah.
It will be interesting to see whether anyone finds it important enough to ask our government leaders the three questions I mentioned earlier.
But I guess the most important question has already been answered – for American citizens and Islamic terrorists: Can a car bomb be successfully planted at will in a large, densely populated city in the United States in 2010?
Tragically, I guess we all know the truthful answer to that question.
