Dear Friends of American Energy, It’s déjà vu all over again in Washington, D.C. Similar to the health care battle, the Administration and its allies in Congress are working to pass legislation that the American people don’t want. This time it’s a national energy tax.

Senator Majority Leader Harry Reid says that he will bring an anti-energy bill to the floor of the Senate in two weeks. Even though the bill will increase energy taxes by billions of dollars a year, Senator Reid has not let the American people know what is in his legislation. All we know for sure is that it will increase the price of energy and harm the economy. If Senator Reid’s plan is similar to Senators Kerry and Lieberman’s recently released bill, it will cause serious harm to the economy. To find out what it will cost you, click on the image below. The IER Kerry-Lieberman Cap-and-Trade Burden Calculator allows you to input your household income and expenditures to find out just how much the Senate’s latest energy tax will cost your family. But keep in mind that the economic costs described by the Kerry-Lieberman Cap-and-Trade Burden Calculator are only the beginning. These costs are just from one section of the bill—the cap-and-trade section. There are other sections of the bill that will increase the price of energy and the price of using energy. image P.S.
