Regardless of where you live in the U.S., everyone should pay close attention to the politically charged case of Nicandra Diaz Santillan. In case that name is unfamiliar to you as it was to me until last week, she is the former housekeeper for Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman.

The importance of this matter will become very clear, thanks to talk show host Mark Levin. If anyone has ever wondered what Mr. Levin has done to earn the title of "the great one," well, wonder no more as he has shown his legal and political acumen while exposing the hypocrisy of the liberal left. Allow me to provide a very abbreviated version of the facts surrounding this manufactured "controversy" and why this case matters. About nine years ago, Whitman reportedly hired Santillan through an employment agency. Santillan allegedly provided the agency with identification documents that included a social security card and a California driver's license. She reportedly signed legal documents that she was, in fact, a legal resident of the United States to obtain her identification papers. Except she wasn't and still isn't. Santillan allegedly lied to procure the documents, which is a federal offense. Fast forward to 2009, when Whitman reportedly determined, with reasonable certainty, that Santillan obtained her housekeeping position through fraud. Whitman then fired Santillan. Some say Whitman fired Santillan as she prepared to run for governor and did so only to avoid appearing hypocritical on the issue of immigration. They point to correspondence from the Social Security Administration to Meg Whitman and her husband during the course of Santillan's employment requesting clarification of Santillan's social security number. According to the documentation offered by Santillan's attorney, Whitman's husband had written a note to Santillan on the bottom of one of the letters, asking her to clear up the matter with the appropriate federal agency. This correspondence, according to Santillan's attorney Gloria Allred, is the "smoking gun" that conclusively shows the depth of Whitman's hypocrisy and why she is not qualified to hold the position of governor. After being terminated by Whitman, Santillan retained an attorney specializing in immigration issues. At some later point timed suspiciously to coincide with the race for governor, famed attorney Gloria Allred purportedly agreed to represent Santillan, ostensibly in matters involving wage issues she allegedly had with Whitman. Allred then launched a media blitz against Whitman, using Santillan as a visible political prop in front of a sympathetic media to an unwitting public. Allred publicly cajoled Santillan as she alleged that she had been "exploited, disrespected, humiliated and emotionally and financially abused" by Whitman. Smelling blood, many in the liberal media became downright giddy over exposing Whitman as a fraud, accusing her and her husband of keeping Santillan on the payroll while knowing she was an "illegal alien." They are applauding Gloria Allred's public representation of Santillan, who is desperately attempting to portray her as poster child of republican and conservative exploitation and Whitman as an exhibit of hypocrisy in matters of immigration. Again, it is important to understand that Allred is representing Santillan in a legal suit for unpaid wages and not as her immigration attorney, a fact that appears to be lost on the minions of mouthpieces of the political left in their zeal to defile the reputation and integrity of Meg Whitman. That is until Mark Levin interviewed Ms. Allred on his radio show last week. While other media pundits focus on trivialities spun to assail the integrity of Whitman, Mr. Levin strikes to the very core of the issue involving Santillan, and exposes Allred's despicable display of media #-mongering that has placed her client in very serious legal jeopardy. By putting on such public displays and using her client as a pawn in a political race, she appears to be knowingly and unnecessarily elevating her client's exposure to criminal prosecution. The exchange between Mr. Levin and Ms. Allred is perhaps the best 15 minutes of "lawyer-to-lawyer direct examination" ever aired on talk radio. Mr. Levin exposes Allred's true agenda in this exchange, which certainly does not appear to involve protecting her client's best interests. In fact, Mr. Levin clearly demonstrates that Allred, possibly on behalf of Whitman's opponent, is actually throwing her client under the proverbial bus, all for the sake of politics. If anyone is victimizing the illegal Ms. Santillan, it is Allred and the liberal left. It is clear that protecting Ms. Santillan is less important than using her to gain political capital. The next time a liberal claims to be on the side of justice for the poor immigrants who suffer exploitation in America, just cite this audio clip.
