In Aldous Huxley's 1932 novel Brave New World we are given a glimpse of the dysfunctional "utopia" planned by the Progressives. It is a glittering facade, a meaningless wasteland where cheap thrills, drugs, and sexual excess are employed to control and occupy a shallow and largely mindless rabble. The ruling class subjugates the public with complex propaganda schemes, with sleep teaching, mind control, body modification, and sex, sex, sex.
Sex is one of the most powerful drives in the human condition. It will drive people to throw away everything they have for a few minutes of pleasure. (Consider the tragedy of Marc Antony) Lives are destroyed, careers ruined, murders committed, people beaten, etc. for the pleasures of the flesh, and were it to be turned to the service of, say, an elite ruling class, it could be a mighty tool to be used to control the populace.
Free Love and the Progressive/Socialist movements
Mighty, indeed! That is why the "Free Love" movement was inextricably tied to the Progressive/Socialist movements of the 19th and 20th centuries, and why "make love, not war!" was the slogan of the New Left during the '60s and '70's. Sex and revolution were inextricably linked in the minds of those seeking to overthrow the old order, and the leaders of the revolutionary movements understood the power and allure of easy sex.
In a recent column Suzanne Fields complained that increasingly young girls are dressing increasingly provocatively; in fact, she says that they are going out looking like hookers. She rightly worries about the effects this hypersexualization - and at such an early age - has on girls, and well she should. It's teaching girls to flaunt their sexuality, which means to objectify their bodies and to pursue not character and decency, not intellect and grace, but the more base, material things. And this early sexualization is guaranteed to bring in its wake the problems of pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, and other physical maladies. But the real damage is psychological - the murder of innocence and the seduction of virtue to the sexual paradise promised by the "Progressive" left.
But what of the boys?
Comedian Henny Youngman once quipped that strip clubs were said to degrade women, yet he was the one wandering the streets at five in the morning flat broke and with a, well, serious male dilemma. And they say stripping is degrading to WOMEN! How right he was!
In a recent column in American Thinker Janice Shaw Crouse laments the crisis of immaturity among modern American men.
This crisis is asymptotical to the increasing sexualization of young girls. Granted, there are other factors; boys don't stay in school because they tire of being told they are the root of all evil by feminist professors, they aren't responsible because they have never been made to be, etc. but the root of their problem is sexuality, and the manipulations of that sexuality. Our culture is drenched in sex, and the message they receive early is that sex is the very best thing in life, the ultimate goal of life. When these girls dress like Juarez streetwalkers they overstimulate a drive that is at its peak in these young men, who come to find their very identity in sexual conquest. We have seen this in the homosexual community for a long time; the idea that your very identity derives from your sexual behavior, but it is becoming the norm in the heterosexual community as well, and particularly among the young. Huxley's vision of the Free Love society, where sex is as casual as dining with a friend, is fast approaching.
Feminists particularly advocate for this; it gives girls power. Women's sexuality peaks later in life, and the allure - and withholding, or favoring - of sexual activity keeps boys jumping through hoops. Worry less about what provocative dress does to the female psyche than to the male; he is the puppet, dancing on the strip-pole. He is the one who feels animal, dirty, irrational, and weak. That was all part of the Progressive plan - destroy the sense of self in young boys, so they may be molded to the cause as adults. What else can they do? The tyranny of sexual excess leads them to become leftists themselves, so they can sate their desires. It is the Progressive sacrament.
And it is hardly new; cults of sexuality have ever been with Mankind. In revolutionary France the "goddess of Reason" was portrayed in parades by a naked prostitute. There was the worship of Baal, which included some swinging sexual delights to arouse the fertility god and renew the Earth. There was Aphrodite, the Assyrian goddess Astarte, the Celtic goddess Aine. The Kama Sutra was as much a religious book as a how-to manual, it should be pointed out. Why is sex mixed with religion?
Sex as a means of control is as old as Mankind, too; consider the play Lysistrata by Aristophanes; the heroin convinces the women of Athens to withhold sexual favors to end the Peloponnesian wars. History is replete with examples of sex being used as a means of control; in every military in the world boys were recruited and indoctrinated with promises of sexual excess.
What the Left has done is wage war against the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. They realize they cannot substitute one of these old silly sexual deities, that times have changed, so they substitute ideas - their ideas. They use the same methods employed by the cults of fertility in the past, but with the Progressive ethos. They tell their inductees they are the smart ones, and labor to rebuild their self-esteem (destroyed by the twisting of their sexuality early in life) on the bedrock of liberalism. It's the same technique used by cults; break down the person, then rebuild them on a new foundation. In this case the foundation being broken is Christian and Jewish, and the new foundation is secular, progressive, collectivist. The tool to accomplish this is sex.

And the tool to get those teenagers into the sexually provocative clothing and behavior is all around us, in the media, in movies, on the internet. Pornography is easier to access online than information these days. Advertising and marketing is quite sophisticated, and the pushers of sexuality know exactly what they are doing; they use the most advanced marketing techniques to get those girls into their indecent garb. These girls, wanting to fit in, join the cult of sex, and the boys follow suit. Once they have lost their innocence they cannot get it back. Again, this is a sacrament. Each phase - dressing #, engaging in sexual activity, and then the results of pregnancy, abortions, venereal diseases, weds the youth to the cause. With their innocence lost, where can they go? The Churches would have them, but the hostility displayed by the dominant media culture makes that a "losers" prospect. No, there is only one place to go - into the arms of the Left.
The new atheism, scientism, the cult of sex, the welfare state, the stranglehold on education and the media, all are the tools used to build the Progressive dystopia, and Huxley saw clearly where Fabian Socialism was heading. The loss of innocence in our children is breaking our society down, leaving a vacuum that the collectivists will fill. Their triumph will ultimately be terrible, and the suffering they are causing is untold. This is, quite frankly, a doctrine of demons.
We must restore modesty and chastity. These used to be seen as virtues, but now are considered vices. That has to change.
