All the wrong questions – kicking the can down the road

The financial desperation builds towards the ‘explosion’ on August 3rd. Speaker Boehner is so far standing firm against a debt ceiling increase, but others are pushing a debt ceiling increase, including Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell. Obama has already stormed out of negotiations and stated there would be no temporary debt ceiling increase and certainly no cutting back on his precious programs.

The fighting is intensifying between the House and Senate with negotiations flying sideways. The usual political threats of no support, and ‘dead on arrival talk’ are everywhere. Will the conservatives hold strong and reflect their strong mandate from the American people to reign in spending and stop increasing debt? As it is now, you can see the can about ready to get kicked down the road. We have a total stalemate with the Progressive Democrat controlled Senate standing by Obama’s spending orgy. These are all are waste-of-time surface questions which don’t really solve the problem, serve the people or help our country to get out of debt. The American people must demand that several things happen to REALLY take care of business.

1. Demand that Obama and the progressive liberals cut all redundancy in Government programs; Stop all special interest programs which don’t reflect the will of most the people; Cut programs that should be run and funded by states anyway and only continue federal programs that reflect our constitutional values and principles.
2. It is a given that we have out of control debt because we have greedy morons in leadership who continue to increase taxes, redistribute wealth and shred our economy. Oh yeah…..and also destroy that little thing called jobs, gas prices and energy independence.
3. We must have a total paradigm shift in taxation, not another tax decrease or increase that only touches the surface and kicks the can down the road. We must introduce a 2% consumption tax and stop all other tax, including Income tax, excise tax, capital gains tax, payroll tax, gas tax, property tax and whatever tax is sneaking around. It is high time for just a 2% consumption tax. This would bring in 10-20 trillion dollars a year, liberate the people from the IRS and Government controls, while giving us enough money to take care of our real priorities and debt.

These debt conversations in our Government are absurd to me and should be to most of us. Our leaders must stop treating symptoms and playing surface money games at the expense of the people and our country. Because no one is talking about real tax reform, total energy independence, real border security and real jobs, I am as ‘The Annie Oakley of the Airwaves,’ survivor, Mom and ordinary citizen.
