Obama disingenuousness in his speeches

As Mr. Obama travels from fundraiser to fundraiser and stump to stump making speeches, he once again reminds us of his proclivity for disingenuousness.
At a stop in Mesquite, Texas, Obama once more called upon Congress to “pass this jobs bill.” With a straight face, he claimed that if Congress didn’t pass his jobs bill, most of the people in the audience would see their taxes go up. What he didn’t say was that if Congress did indeed pass his jobs bill, they’d still see their taxes go up, probably far more than if the bill didn’t pass.

Obama knows perfectly well that of all the people in that room, roughly 47 percent, a reflection of the national average, probably don’t pay any federal taxes anyway. He also knows that the best that the federal government can do in the way of job creation is small numbers of short-term jobs. Yet, he continues to push his jobs bill with a zeal I didn’t know he had. Obama knows this bill will never pass Congress. The Republican-held House will never bring it up for a vote, and not even the Democrat-controlled Senate has the votes to pass it and they know it. At the end of the day, everyone knows it’s a bad bill, even its perpetrator, Obama. So what’s his motivation? He knows he can’t run on his record since it’s been a dismal failure, so he needs something to run against. In his view, the Republicans look like a good target. He can blame them for not passing the bill and not allowing him to create jobs and jumpstart the economy. He can call them obstructionists, reactionaries, and extremists. In short, he can demonize them. Throughout his less-than-stellar presidency, Obama has refused to take responsibility for anything that has happened on his watch. He began his administration by blaming his predecessor President George W. Bush for all the country’s troubles, and thus his own. I believe he’s going to end his administration by trying to blame our continuing ills on someone else as well. Stand up, Mr. President, and shoulder your own responsibility. Take it like a man. Stop using the opposition as a whipping boy and quit blaming everyone else. You’re the one who sits in the Oval Office where Harry Truman had a sign that read, “The buck stops here.”
