Dogged by secularism and even having to brave the face of ridicule, the growing sense that “Something is wrong” has many praying more fervently than ever. Today is the ‘National Day of Prayer and Fasting’ initiated by Atlanta businessman Bob Preyss and his stalwart online helper Mary Jane Tyler. When Preyss acted on his idea for the National Day of Prayer, he didn’t know it would follow by only three days the worst storm to ever strike the Northeast, or that up to 8 million souls would still be struggling in the dark.
The ‘National Day of Prayer’ could not have come at a darker time. With the bad news that ConEd and other utility companies can not turn the lights back on in parts of America’s largest city, New Jersey and elsewhere, millions seek the light of the Almighty in the darkest of dark. Though millions are worried, no one but the Almighty knows what the next few days will bring. Rumours are rife that the lack of electricity may in some way impact the ability for citizens to cast their vote on Tuesday; that President Barack Obama may use some method to delay elections. Even before the devastation of Hurricane Sandy became the News of the Day, the White House and mainstream media worked to suppress the news of the tragic events in Benghazi, Libya.

Remember to keep the grieving loved ones of Ambassador Chris Stevens, former Navy SEALS Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty and Foreign Service Information Manager Sean Smith in today’s prayers. For far too many, survival has become a struggle accompanied by the feeling that there is only hopelessness and despair with nowhere to turn. Yet even in the face of so much human misery, there are the small everyday miracles happening in average lives many never hear about. Acts of bravery during the devastating storm saved lives. First responders rescued the elderly and the feeble in boats plying through flood waters, even rescuing pets. National Prayer Day team member MaryJane Tyler’s miracle was 20 years in the making.
“Thank you for your prayers for Ria, my "adopted," Daughter from Manila... she arrived yesterday morning at LAX [her luggage  after midnight...]. I was able to lavish her with God's love ... by His grace! [She is in recovery from a double, radical mastectomy in China after 20 days in hospital with no parents' visit... ] God knew she needed an extra "mom"!  We had a beautiful and yummy breakfast at the Four Seasons on Wilshire in Beverly Hills, drove up and down Rodeo Drive, then UCLA, Santa Monica... lots of pix... she studied film at NYU after her MBA at Tulane when I "adopted" her through my Sunday School class... 20 years ago... And then came down PCH [Pacific Coast Highway to you back East] and Huntington Beach, and a late lunch watching sunset at Newport Beach... God is so good... Just put her on Amtrak for four-day conference near Palo Alto, and a visit to her Grandma in Florida for Thanksgiving ...” Tyler wrote yesterday to friends. “Remember 2nd Chron 7:14 is a Promise!” ...”If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” King James Version: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
There will be many things happening between today and Tuesday with an election whose outcome will decide whether America will continue on to destructive Socialism or a God-given opportunity for Constitutional restoration. But we do know that today is the one where we seek His Face. God bless every single person reading this. God bless America.
