Turkey’s Emerging Role as Sponsor of Global Terrorism

Cairo, Egypt--The Egyptian Foreign Office denounced the speech of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, because he openly made the ‘Rabaa’ gesture, a gesture used by the Muslim Brotherhood. It’s a symbol used in protests after the overthrow of Mohamed Morsi. (Rabaa in Arabic means Forth) Erdogan appeared several times gesturing, he said it’s a symbol of oppression and injustice suffered by certain groups of the Egyptians.
Ambassador Badr Abdel Atty, spokesman of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, said the Ministry sent a strong message to the Turkish ambassador in Cairo and issued a formal statement expressing Egypt’s anger over Erdogan's comments, which represent an insult to the will of Egyptian people, and belittles the reality of 30 million Egyptians who came out to demand the overthrow of the Brotherhood and President Morsi. Ambassador Atty said that there is a clear recognition by the world of the legitimacy of the June 30 revolution--with the exception of Brotherhood governments in Tunisia, Qatar and Turkey, who show their hostility to Egypt through their official statements, while Qatar is using al-Jazeera for falsifying the facts and spreading lies about Egypt. Reliable sources with the Jemaah Islamiyah militant group in Egypt announced today the escape of a large number of the group leaders, including Asim Abdalmagd and Tarek Al-Zomor. Abdalmagd is responsible for the killing of 118 police officers and Al-Zomor participated in the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. Both escaped to Turkey, with fake passports, after shaving their beards.
Mamdouh Youssef and his family, consisting of his wife and 6 children have fled to Turkey. He’s the head of the militant wing that killed former chief of the Egyptian parliament.

Islam Elghamry, former spokesman for the organization in Afghanistan, and the one who announced to the media that the group joined al-Qaeda to fight the Jews and Christians with Osama bin Laden, who also escaped to Turkey with his wife and 8 children. Security sources said that this ‘great escape’ to Turkey raises questions about the relationship between Ankara and the militant organization’s leaders, who have had strong ties with Osama bin Laden and his follower al-Zawahiri. The role played by Erdogan against Egypt also raises questions about the amount of money spent on escape. The World Tribune revealed information about Islamic militants and jihadists in Sinai receiving weapons and supplies from Turkey, which arrived in ships from Turkey and distributed to ports along the Egyptian Mediterranean coastline. The Washington Post has reported that members of the Brotherhood in Egypt found refuge abroad to avoid capture. Some locations include; Qatar, Istanbul, London and Geneva. The Post added: Leadership-in-exile in Qatar occupy entire wings of hotels paid for by al Jazeera, while networking on the future shaping of the Muslim Brotherhood. The International Brotherhood organization has held 6 meetings in Doha and several other meetings in Turkey and Pakistan since the June 30th revolution. Erdogan’s strong support of the Brotherhood originates from two essential reasons; Erdogan and his party belong to the Muslim Brotherhood international organization, and Erdogan is afraid of the Egyptian scenario repeating itself in Turkey as Turkish history comes replete with military coups. Turkey does not only sponsor terrorism in Egypt, but supports militant groups in Syria, Iraq and Kurdish areas as well. Iraqi and Syrian authorities have accused Turkey formally with masterminding a number of bombings and assassinations in their countries. Erdogan's angry statements about Egypt express his grief over the loss of the Muslim Brotherhood and other militant groups and their push for Islam’s global Caliphate delusions. The fall of the Brotherhood in Cairo, showed the real face of the Brotherhood project which the Turkish AKP tried to present to the world as the model of civilized Islamists. Turkey has become the sponsor of the of militant movements of the Muslim Brotherhood and their al Qaeda allies including their sleeper cells in the Middle East, Europe and the United States. Turkey's dream was to place the Muslim Brotherhood in positions of power throughout the Arab world, and reviving its Ottoman Empire dream of 400 years ago. Turkey’s dream has collapsed with the AKP facing tough questions about their political future after internal fighting and growing popular protests. In addition, the stability in Egypt might be an inspation for the armies of the region to play more of political role creating a nightmare for the ruling elites. Turkey has failed in its bid for leadership of the Middle East. The key to stability in the Middle East exists in Cairo, not in Ankara.
