Ontario voters voted yesterday to remain in their province’s crippling recession by handing another victory to the scandal-plagued Liberals on the proverbial silver platter.
Some people thrive on moral and financial bankruptcy. Just ask Ontario voters. No one captures the dismal reality better than the Toronto Sun’s Christina Blizzard:
TORONTO - It's Friday the 13th. "Get ready for a horror show. “Voters in Ontario not only gave the nod to bad behaviour - they rewarded it by giving the scandal-plagued government of Kathleen Wynne a majority government. "Go figure.

“Despite the $1 billion blown on gas plants, the Ornge air ambulance fiasco, the deleted e-mails, the disgraceful $317-million bailout of MaRS, voters still weren't ready to boot a Liberal government that's embroiled in two - count 'em - OPP investigations out the door. “Apparently the devil you know is better than trying your luck with a party that hasn't blown $1 billion on eHealth. “Liberals took seats from both the Tories and the NDP. “Almost two dozen unions took on PC Leader Tim Hudak over his hard line on unions. And they drew blood. “In a remarkably elegant political exit Thursday night, Hudak said he's stepping down. He knows he has no choice and it was courageous of him to fall on his sword so quickly. The party now has the tough task of re-building.” Blizzard is right on the money by writing, “This vote wasn't so much a referendum on him as it shows the vote-buying power of the unions in this province”, and that “this province is morally and financially bankrupt.” Ontario is ridden with “low information voters”, too. They just don’t rate the same publicity as their American peers do. With little mention from the mainstream media, the province of Ontario is in worse economic shape than the state of California. California has approximately $170 billion debt for 35 million people. Blatantly ignoring all credit watches and warnings and with no credible plan to balance the books, Ontario has a $300 billion debt and a $15 billion operating deficit for about 13 million people. Not long ago recognized as the economic engine of Canada, Ontario’s decline does not bode well for the rest of the country. With his son, Justin, riding high in the polls a year before 2015’s federal election, Canada has been overwhelmed mostly by Liberal debt since Pierre Elliott Trudeau was elected prime minister back in 1968. Back then Canada’s debt was $16.8 billion. Cashing in on the politics of celebrity culture, where he is patronized for his film star good looks and perfect hair, Justin Trudeau’s popularity remained high in the polls-- even after blocking pro-life candidates from running as Liberals in the coming federal election. Canada’s destructive debt has been Liberal all the way. The war debt was paid by 1955. The Canadian dollar was worth $1.06 U.S. In the '70s. One of the first blowbacks from the Liberals is that they destroyed the Canadian dollar, driving its value down to $.62 U.S. That’s the mainstream media all but ignored Liberal legacy for the resource-rich Land of the Maple Leaf. California gets more public attention because several of its cities have declared bankruptcy. On a per capita basis, several bankrupt Canadian cities ride their way off the radar screen. Liberal voters in Ontario are convinced that ‘bankruptcy’ is an American word. Their ignorance is bliss as long as the eastern establishment counts on Alberta and Saskatchewan, Canada’s environmental activist-harassed oil and gas producers for automatic bailout. Well hidden under the federal ‘transfer payment’ (TP) scam, Ontario quietly became a ‘have-not’ province under Premier Kathleen Wynne’s predecessor, Dalton McGuinty, and never looked back. From the day the "transfer payment" program began, the people of Alberta have paid more than $700 Billion in TPs. Alberta, after being debt free, is broke again. Meanwhile, yesterday Ontarians ran straight into their Liberal bubble, hoping to escape the consequences of burgeoning debt. Elsewhere world wide, the big question might be: “If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?” In Ontario the question is: “Are you really bankrupt if you really don’t know it?
