Congressman Henry A. Waxman
U.S. Representative - 33rd Congressional District
Dear Congressman Waxman:
As you know, we have repeatedly and respectfully requested that you, including President Obama, to declare Los Angeles a "State of Emergency" for disabled and homeless Veterans and you have both refused to provide any emergency humanitarian relief project at the Los Angeles VA here in our Nation's capital for homeless Veterans. See attached overview of our proposed Humanitarian Relief Project requesting support.
On the other hand, the Obama Administration is going to great lengths to use our Military bases to shelter children who were brought to the United States illegally.
While homeless vets wander the streets, Obama administration uses military bases to shelter illegal aliens
These children need to be returned to their nation of origin and to their parents .... just as the United States returned Elian Gonzales to his father in Cuba.
Why is the Department of Defense providing shelter for these children, and where is the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service that initially placed Elian with his paternal relatives in Miami before he was returned to his native land?
When are you going to "Do the Right Thing" and open the Los Angeles VA in your Congressional District for emergency shelter to tens of thousands of war-injured and impoverished homeless Veterans who have been abandoned by our own U.S. Government?
Sincerely,
Robert L. Rosebrock
