Artist selected in Sunday Times Watercolour Competition 2014

Work by a well-known British artist will feature in this year’s prestigious Sunday Times Watercolour Competition.
Bryher Tree by Paul Hoare from St Agnes, Cornwall, will be shown alongside 100 other works at The Mall Galleries, Pall Mall, London between September 15 and 20, 2014. “The Sunday Times Competition is a national competition with a large number of entries, so being selected is a huge honour and represents a validation of my work,” says Paul. “I hope this will further promotes my name and art to a wider audience plus increase hits on my website www.cornwallart.co.uk. “Already this year I was selected and sold at the highly prestigious Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colour exhibition, which features paintings from some of Britain's leading watercolour painters. This is the third year I have had the privilege of being selected by this most highly respected society.”

The Sunday Times Watercolour Competition is in its 27th year. The 2014 judges are: artist Sarah Armstrong Jones, Desmond Shawe-Taylor CVO, Surveyor of the Queen’s Pictures, artist Ben Ravenscroft and Louis Wise Critic & Writer, The Sunday Times. The following prizes will be awarded during the exhibition. They will also be announced in The Sunday Times Magazine and on The Sunday Times website:
  • First Prize - £10,000
  • Second Prize - £6,000
  • Smith & Williamson Cityscape Prize - £1,500
A selection of the 2014 exhibition will be shown in the offices of Smith & Williamson, the accountants from September 2014 to January 2015. www.cornwallart.co.uk
