“The Gateway Pundit is reporting that the 101st Airborne Division is being sent to West Africa to assist in stopping the Ebola epidemic. Even though members of our armed forces are being put in a dangerous situation, they are not being given full hazmat suits. Nashville Public Radio reported the following statement from General David Rodriguez: (Tavern Keepers, Oct. 19, 2014) “Troops from the 101st Airborne Division leading the military response to Ebola in West Africa will only need gloves and masks to protect themselves from the deadly virus, so said Gen. David Rodriguez at a Pentagon briefing Wednesday. “They don’t need the whole suit – as such – because they’re not going to be in contact with any of the people,” the commander of U.S. troops in Africa said. “Soldiers from the 101st Airborne will primarily be building hospitals, ultimately leading what could be a contingent of 4,000 American service members. They’ll be housed either in tent cities at military airfields or in Liberian Ministry of Defense facilities, Rodriguez said. “Soldiers’ health will be monitored through surveys and taking their temperature on their way in and out of camps. If a service member does get sick, Rodriguez said they will be flown home immediately for treatment. “If there is no danger, why are they being provided with gloves and masks? Is it hard to imagine situations where victims with Ebola might come in contact with the troops? If they are building hospitals and other facilities would they not be a major target for infection by Islamists? All it would take is one infection for things to get out of control if there aren’t sufficient safeguards. “At the same time, the State Department is ordering 160,000 hazmat suits specifically made to prevent the spread of Ebola. If the State Department is ordering over 100,000 of these suits, why is the government not ordering an additional 2% to provide the 101st Airborne Division with the maximum in protection? It’s a disgrace that the government is buying the best in protection for diplomats and foreign aid but not providing the same or better to the military.”Note to Ebola-hysteric Obama: Not all presidents hoping to cancel their midterm elections in the Ebola outbreak, get away with it. Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, who directed the National Elections to hold off her country’s midterm Senatorial Elections, failed. “Pres. Sirleaf acting pursuant to the powers vested in her by both the Constitution of Liberia and the Declaration of the State of Emergency, issued a Proclamation issued on October 4, 2014, suspending the holding of the October 14, 2014 Senatorial Elections. “Monrovia - A joint resolution of the Senate and House of Representatives of Liberia’s 53rd Legislature unanimously voted Friday to overturn a Presidential decision to cancel indefinitely, the scheduled midterm Senatorial elections this year.” (Front Page Africa)
“Now, therefore, be it resolved, that the 53rd National Legislature through its special session during its extraordinary sitting mandates the National Elections Commission(NEC) to set a date in consultation with stakeholders for the conduct of the 2014 Mid Term Senatorial Elections not later than December 20, 2014. In overturning the presidential mandate, the joint legislature said their action was in keeping with Article 86(a) and (b) of the Liberia Constitution as they resolved that the Mid Term Elections be postponed. “Members of the lower house also voted against the president's quest for absolute power and suspension of portions of the constitution. The Senate concurred with the lower house on the election issue with a slight modification, adding that the elections should be postponed, but the Elections Commission in consultation with political parties come up with a date that would be approved the body. A vote on the absolute power request was tabled for Monday by the Senate. “Pres. Sirleaf acting pursuant to the powers vested in her by both the Constitution of Liberia and the Declaration of the State of Emergency, issued a Proclamation issued on October 4, 2014, suspending the holding of the October 14, 2014 Senatorial Elections. Mandate a Blow to EJS “The mandate deals a major blow to President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, who earlier this week, directed the National Elections Commission, the agency of the Government authorized to hold general and special elections, to immediately commence consultations and discussions with all recognized and accredited political parties, independent candidates, and civil society organizations and other stakeholders, as well as national and international health authorities on a new date for holding the Special Senatorial Elections.”Is this the same President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, who told Canada’s Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) she was “very angry” with a fellow Liberian who travelled to Texas after being infected with the Ebola virus, saying she would consult with lawyers about what to do when he returns home? Meanwhile, even with the Centers for Disease Confusion along for the ride, it looks like Obama’s falling far behind in his Ebola shock-a-holic campaign. Hard to hang onto Big Boo Man Status when so many of your observers know that when it comes to Ebola, Obama long ago mounted his girly bike and rode off into the do-nothing sunset.
