Show Trials

Show Trials, Fortuna Audaces Juvat, Fortune favours the bold,
We Conservatives keep talking to ourselves. This may cost us the Senate--the election--our country.
The majority of Americans acknowledge strong support for Conservative principles. For the most part, however, they remain unmolested by the Conservative Media or Conservative Message. Instead, we Conservatives talk to ourselves--a lot. We have our own network (sort of), our own print and online media, radio, websites, books, pundits, and, sometimes, actual candidates. But most of our material, even our best material, remains unavailable to the majority of Americans. Why? Why is our (winning) message not getting through? We know why. Our schools indoctrinate our children's malleable minds, the entertainment industry reinforces the indoctrination, and the Left transforms the consequent disordered thinking into astonishing electoral success. And this year we have discovered, or rediscovered, our Republican leaders not only reject Conservative principles; they actually hate them, and hate those who espouse them. And we Conservatives continue to speak primarily, only, to ourselves. Admittedly, a few brilliant tones are struck, such as those by Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and Mike Lee, articulating Conservative principles during an unexpected filibuster. And, it must be admitted, tens of millions listen to Rush, Mark, Sean and Mike, and Conservative media attracts millions more. Yet, the Conservative Message has yet to be articulated on a larger stage, or for sufficient duration (other than, of course, for Ronald Reagan, and Barry Goldwater prior to Reagan).

Conservatives: Let's be Bold, Let's get our Message out

If we cannot spread our Message we cannot sell it. And if we cannot sell it we cannot sell the policies inspired by it. For example, the new American Emperor persists in behaviors, on a daily basis, that require impeachment, or at minimum Special Prosecutors (if not jail time): "pen and phone," "IRS," etc., etc. As Levin regularly points out, however, such measures will never take place unless and until Conservatives can articulate the Impeachment Message, now part of the Conservative Message, and then make it available to the otherwise uninformed conservative-leaning voter, and sell it. With our current Republican Establishment leadership, these activities will never be accomplished. They will never be permitted. They will be punished. Somehow, a larger-than-life individual, Ronald Reagan, was able to reach the American people directly with the Conservative Message, an accomplishment for which he was awarded two landslide victories. The self-interested Republican Establishment didn't notice or didn't care. Instead they offered the insipid vision of "compassionate conservatism," "a thousand points of light" and exhorted us to "read my lips--no new taxes." Disgusting. In an earlier piece, I outlined a number of whimsical, but deadly serious radical measures our Conservative Congresspersons might take to fill the time they'd soon possess after the Speaker kicked them off all Committees, working as the so-called Boehner Blacklist Brigade. I borrowed from the antics of the so-called radicals of the 1960s, the students who staged sit-ins, chaining themselves to administration doors; rallies, and Administration office take-overs. Somehow, these small bands of troublemakers garnered national attention, again and again, forced ridiculous policy changes, and painted members of the Establishment as the dull-witted, befuddled, hypocritical sycophants many of them proved to be. And...they did all this without access to the wonders of the digital age. We should use every tactic of the '60s radicals--without comprising morals, of course. But we should do far more. We should lay bare the entire radical/revolutionary playbook. It must be admitted that most such tactics are unavailable to honorable persons--such as those tactics described in Hillary/Obama's guidebook, Alinsky's prophetic Rules for Radicals--(complete with its dedication to Lucifer). Yet, many radical tactics can be employed honorably without granting any quarter whatsoever to "the ends justify the means." So, considering the Soviet and Chinese histories, I was reminded of the frequent spectacle of Show Trials. Such extravagances always seemed pointless. If they were going to execute the accused anyway, why go through a Show Trial? Later, I understood the very powerful propaganda benefits of Show Trials. We should fashion our own Conservative Show Trials. And now. (But without the executions). I recommend Show Trials in the sense of spectacle, entertainment, fun, and propaganda (getting the Conservative Message out). Just imagine: The Boehner/McConnell Blacklist Brigade would secure funding (Koch brothers?) for a venue close to the Capitol building. They would intend the Show Trial for the purpose of public airing of a Bill of Particulars for Impeachment of the President (or similar for any other member of the Left of concern). A volunteer would play the part of President (or other Leftist). A member of the Blacklist Brigade would serve as Prosecutor (Conservative Message), and another as Defense attorney (Leftist Message). The goal would be the articulation of the genuine Leftist Message, countered by the presentation of the genuine Conservative Message, the Message always victorious in a fair fight. Another Brigade member would serve as Judge, and carefully selected volunteers as jury (College Republicans?). Brigade members or Conservative pundits would act as announcers, commentators, and reporters. A faux newsroom setting would be constructed similar to that in use for almost all U.S. pregame football shows. Perhaps a studio audience would be added as well (carefully selected, of course). All participants would understand the dual nature of the Mission: 1) Articulate the Conservative Message as convincingly as possible. 2) And, as importantly, provide as much entertainment as possible. Is it likely the Liberal Media will ignore the enterprise entirely? Most likely it will. But Conservatives now have access to the marvels of the digital age--YouTube in particular--and access to the same tactics everyone else uses to "drive" viewers to posts. Imagine. The Brigade prosecutor attacks the volunteer "President" in some creative and hilarious manner. The Prosecutor delineates the Bill of Particulars, the multiple egregious high crimes and misdemeanors of our Emperor. The sequence is posted on YouTube and on Web humor sites. It goes viral. No one suspects the hidden message--the reinforced rendition of Obama's crimes against the country--his impeachable defenses. Instead of hearing pundits talk about a tiresome laundry list of Imperial misdeeds, the viewer, while laughing, will magically -- even unconsciously -- grasp the awareness of and significance of Obama's real bad acts against the nation and her people. But wait, there's more. The Show Trial could be held on behalf of any number of other volunteer defendants and topics: Obama about Fast and Furious; Benghazi; appointment of Communist Secretaries; the IRS scandal; Lois Lerner about the IRS; Boehner about treasonous leadership; Harry Reid about shady family government-money dealings; Nancy Pelosi and Barbara Boxer about the same thing; and more. It is likely we would never exhaust all the material available for the Show Trial Channel. Imagine, right now, what it would be like to see, to know, that all of the hard questions would be asked, all of the accusations of dishonesty, fraud, deceit, will be aired, and evidence provided, and all will occur in a format also featuring the honest expostulation of counterpoint Leftist propaganda. Imagine it. Never again would Conservatives be condemned to speak only to themselves. Finally, the Conservative Message would explode upon the larger social venues, in a dramatic and compelling format, articulated by persuasive and inspiring speakers. And there is not one darned thing the Establishment Leadership could do to stop it--that they're not already doing right now. Risky? Of course. What in life isn't risky, except perhaps a government job? But calculated risks bring the greatest rewards. Even antiquity tells us 'fortune favors the bold.' Let's be bold!
